Anime and musicPost Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Search for Posts by frigidchill Report Post to a Moderator        IP Address Go to the top of this page

Being a devout music listener of all types, I was wondering what people's favorite piece's of music are from anime. This includes any music in a series or film, but try to keep the reasons interesting rather than just "it was good because the show was".

Ok, here's mine.

I've always liked this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OXoqvYC9u-c ending from Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan. Yes, the series is pretty poor, but the song is oddly haunting, and the ending reminds me the last part of Pink Floyd's, Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

I also get this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JmZBOY6Mcz...ted&search= stuck in my head sometimes. Komm, susser Tod from End of Evangelion. (Probably contains spoilers) I find myself randomly singing the chorus.

The Piano in Haibane Renmei deserves some mention, although I can't think of the precise pieces at the moment.

Oh, and undoubtedly Lilium will be mentioned. Yes it is a great tune, Yes it's haunting and yes, I did tab it on guitar so people are happy to ask.

Lilium is a very nice melody. I performed it for a talent show once, and the crowd loved it. I kinda wish there wasn't so much gratuitous stuff in Elfen Lied, so that I could recommend the series to more people.

I'm partial to the music from Honey and Clover, the composer has done a good job in arranging the main theme music for piano. It really adds to the series, having the piano BGM sync to the opening and closing themes. I have a video of myself doing "Waltz" on my youtube. Obviously I also liked Nodame Cantabile's music, but that's not anime music.

Of course all the Ghibli films have great scores.

Ooh, great thread!

Hm, lots of anime music presses my buttons but I tend to respond more to upbeat music these days, however I enjoyed the opening theme to Paranoia Agent, its great music and the lyrics either mean a lot or are gibberish depending on your mood, so it can be approached different ways.

I also enjoyed ending theme to Kare Kano, it's fun, it makes you laugh and the lyrics are really hopeful and lift my heart.

Tsukamori no Taiju from Tonari no Totoro - a lovely haunting tune.

Laputa's Main Theme (of course)

Kaze no Naru from Neko no Ongaeshi - again a great foot tapping happy tune that lifts you up at the end of the movie.

A track from the yaoi anime series Gravitation called "Super Drive" which is so full of energy and excitement, I just cannot keep still when its playing.

Another track from that anime "Fearless" which is very long (5:37) and just goes places and takes me with it.

"Duvet" from Serial Experiments Lain - the opening theme tune although the Cyberia Mix version is better. The girl singers voice is delicious.

From Naruto "Wind", "Parade", "Rock Lee's Theme" and "Nagareboshi" (shooting star).

Cowboy Bebops closing theme, the title of which escapes me just now but its a very sad tune.

Most of the music from the original Ghost in the Shell movie (lovely Japanese-western mix).

Lots of the music from the GITS SAC 2nd GIG series. It's all Yoko Kanno's work and I think she's very talented, its a great mix of styles too which goes with the theme of the anime.

Heh. My mum, who abhors "adult animation" and would seriously question me about the violence and nudity if she ever watched the show, loves the song too, and wants me to record it to a CD so she can listen to it when I leave for University instead of having me randomly play it round the house.

Ahh I love that song! It's very catchy and you're right about the woman's voice. I'm not sure which is "Duvet" (unless that's the OP you're referring to) And what is the Cyberia Mix version?

You know, I've always found the OP of the very first series of Naruto really good, they seemed to let themselves down in later series. I have memories of me sitting on a bus singing "I wanna rocks, Mune ni Rocks" with everyone looking at me funny.

Im going to add mine as i think of them, the first ons is the sola soundtrack.

now, i do love the piano, and there is plenty of it here, the show has to deal alot with the sky and weather, the music fleshes out the scenery to create a beautiful picture. i just have to get around to downloading it.

Not so much the music but the overall package, IMO Tsukihime's opening is by far the best of any anime. The music is haunting, and the opening animation is superbly directed.

There's ROD Moments in the Sun, simply because it japanese reggae, lol. Unusual, but it works.

I got it from here, someone else gave the link months ago. It seems to be a really well run site and has great bandwidth - I have no idea how the guy does it, it must be expensive to run.

Yeah, a couple of series are missing and some audio CDs from some others but you can't really complain.

i have to cast my vote for 'tank' on the opening of 'cowboy Bebop'. cant get enough of it, perhaps because i have recently been getting into some jazz/funk improv stuff.
also, though i'm not a fan of the show, 'ergo proxy' has Radioheads 'paranoid android' as closing theme.. one of my favourite bands and the mixture of an alternative song with anime is great.
