I definitely can say I never was a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, or ever really followed it much. However, I did see a couple of episodes on YTV back in high school, and they seemed pretty entertaining (maybe because I only watched a couple and had no idea what was going on, and didn't have to sit through 10-episode duels). But I have to agree, the opening song was cool. It reminded me of Escaflowné.

But I never got a sense that the rules of the game made any sense. They seemed to make up rules and effects as they went along, which nobody could dispute or predict... ie, "because we're playing in the forest, all of these creatures get 10% stronger", or my favourite, "I play a card which advances time by 1000 years. While it makes all of your creatures old and feeble, mine becomes old and wise, and learns a new spell."

I sort of raised my eyebrows at that point, wondering whether or not a situation like that was really described in the rule book.

Plus, I found it curious (and sort of nice) that they solve their disputes by card games rather than brute force, when some of them clearly have the ability to do it that way.

I have to admit though, Kaiba was really cool in his dark jacket. I see why you like him.

He was cool in the white jacket too lol. Mokuba annoys me though. Does anyone else think it's a little sad to be hero-worshipping your own brother?

I'm glad this thread's finally picking up a bit of momentum.
