Hi Yume welcome to the forums.
I am from Hong Kong and I also have not seen it yet. The local release is scheduled on 17 March. But I will be in the critical period of public exam (April) preparation by then, and I do not know if I will be able to squeeze time to go to the theatre.
By the way for the film's sake I bought the original novel by Diana Wynne Jones. It is absolutely brilliant. Though I know Miyazaki-san has changed her story quite radically, it still worths to taste what the original story is like before seeing the movie.

There are some updates to the Howl's section in the main site, like MIDI, pictures, etc. Feel free to go there and have a look.

I went and got myself a copy of the Howl's Moving Castle novel too.
Did I like it? Does the fact that I devoured it in four days, all while studying for finals and writing two exam papers prove anything?

Nope, i finished it in one day while cracking my brains on programming C++ codes for the finals.
Can't beat a true blue ghibli otaku, lol.

i watch the film today, i say it does not surpass his previous 2 films but it does not mean it is bad its juz that howls moving castle is a book that is turn into a film and it follows the book in many aspects which i think has hampered miyazaki's imagination. on one hand he has the book to follow and then he has his own input. also i feel parts of the soundtrack is recycled from spirited away.
parts of the movie is copied from his previous fim (spoilers ahead). towards the end, howl gets seriously wounded from defending sophie and he return to sophie in his birdman form with blood all over and conveniently faints and revert back to his human form (didnt we see this somewhere before?)
the film did not make me fall asleep (a miracle !!), the characters are endearing (typical miyazaki) although the haku hairstyle keep getting repeated all over the film and like in all typical miyazaki film there is a strong moral message in the background (this time i feel he is criticizing the war in Iraq)

I have not yet watched the film so I cannot share my views on the other parts of your comment. However I have bought the OST and the image album CD. My general impression is that the music not only has the European style of Kiki, but also makes me to recall the mysterious feelings of Spirited Away. I did not not find any part that is exactly recycled, though. But perhaps watching the movie will help me to recognize those parts more easily.

U watched the film yesterday Lycan? Where? I watched it at Causeway Point, the 2pm show. Maybe u were there?
Yeah, my friend warned me that there would be many instances where the movie looked like scenes from previous ghibli films. But i don't think the soundtrack was recycled. Hisaishi Joe never does that.

i think that isnt recycle.
he is not different from the composition of Nausicaa at all.
that's The Hisashiishi Music.
--i'll not speak ill of him.
in the same as understanding that it is his work when listening to Tchaikovsky's music,
all of Hisaishi's music is The Hisaishi music.
...tra-la-la...Oh, this sound is Hisaishi's tune.
will you feel it like that?
i cant say that Howl is a wonderful movie.
but Howl gives pleasant time for me.
i visited the theater twice.
there is a chance and I want to go.

i do not understand. whether writing here is good or not?
however, i write here.
=Studio Ghibli to go independent=
http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/newse/20050211wo61.htm
from Yomiuri Online
Studio Ghibli will spin off from Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co.
to become an independent corporation.
Ghibli has been supporting its parent company's operations financially through proceeds from its hit movies.
but restructuring to Tokuma's publishing division has allowed the publisher to support itself without relying on its animation division, enabling Studio Ghibli to break free.
Toshio Suzuki and Isao Takahata will become board members
along with Miyazaki. Suzuki will hold representative rights.

I suppose it would be a better idea to open a new topic for it as it has nothing to do with the current topic (Hauru no ugoku shiro! Howls moving castle!). But anyway thanks for your info. The front page of the site is now updated.
In 1997 Tokuma Shoten had a financial crisis. As a sign of gratitude to the generous help of Yasuyoshi Tokuma in the early years of Ghibli, Miyazaki agreed to let Tokuma to conclude the Disney-Tokuma Deal in 1997 (Miyazaki said he is never interested in the worldwide releases as the money he has gained "can last for a lifetime"). I think it was also the time when Ghibli became a part, instead of a subsidiary of Tokuma.
By now the financial crisis is solved, so I assumed that Ghibli would gain back its original status. Yet I never expected a break-off. Ghibli will probably enjoy a greater degree of autonomy in finance and distribution.
But how about the DT Deal? Would Tokuma continue to be responsible, or would all the rights would be transferred to the independent company of Ghibli?

I'm confused now...just b/c of the changing topic things I don't know what to write so this post will be pretty random, k?
Anyways yeah Miyazaki did kind of twist up the whole HMC plot, in what i've seen in images, as I didn't watch it yet. Me and my friend (who are HMC crazed fans) got confused all about the bird-part, just a little info is needed, no spoilers please!

I'll ease that confusion by saying that howl turns into a big bird....and is pretty much exactly like Haku in spirited away....something to do with using his powers for long periods of time .....OMG!!! wait.... just like ashitaka in Mononoke!...when his curse takes over his hand.
Im not even joking....Its clear that miyazaki ego tripped in his adaptation.
Theres more confusion to come from watching the film.
