I watched an awesome film today called Transamerica.

The star is Felicity Huffman, who plays Lynette in Desperate housewives.

Its all about a man called Stan who is a transexual, but before the operation is to be performed to complete the transformation from man to woman, she finds out she has a son.

Its such a funny yet moving film, unique and excellently made

Also, if you havent seen it yet, Angels and Demons is AWESOME.

x

I saw the advert on TV for Angels and Demons and I must say it did look pretty good. I haven't seen the Da Vinci Code yet, so when that was on TV a few days back I recorded it. I plan to watch it some time soon and then I will be able to see Angels and Demons

Minority Report is also one of my all-time favourites. I just love the way it seems so complicated when you first watch it, but the sencond time round you just think 'Ohhhh why didn't I notice that before!'

Films that make you really think rather than having a straight-forward plot always appeal to me

Just watched 'Protector', a Thai/Australian film... lousy plot and dialogue, but great action scenes...

Apart from the obvious, you MUST MUST MUST see:

Les Choristes, it's about a school choir (very quirky)

Joyeux Noel, about the Christmas Truce in World War One.

Katyn, about the massacre of Polish officers in WW2.

I was always impressed by 'Schindler's List' which is also beautifully filmed in black and white most of the time..

And well I also would recommend;

A Beautiful Mind
Interview with the Vampire
The Green Mile
Sophie's Choice
Into the Wild
de Tweeling (the twins in english, its a dutch movie)

^^Because it are great stories, sometimes heavy but beautifully filmed.

I thought the casting could have been better. I don't know what they were thinking casting Antonio Banderas as Armand, seriously. So wrong. Cruise was very good as Lestat though, if I remember rightly (it's been a while since I saw it).

A film I saw a long time ago and have been unable to find again is a film called "The Happiness of the Katakuris" and is probably the oddest film ever made. I highly recommend it (if you can find it, and if you can, tell me where from).

Also, Braindead has to be another recommendation if you're into zombie films. Truly amazing, had me in stitches all the way through.

I have Happiness of the Katakuris on DVD, bought it here in London in a normal HMV store.

It's a "Tartan Asia Extreme" release, cost me 8 quid I think. You should be able to get it anywhere really.

And yes, it is brilliant, just rewatched it last week. So funny.
