Well, it is nice to meet you all. I am an anime fan for going on 13 years now, but have just recently really gotten into Ghibli films. I've been watching the extra content, behind the scenes, and all that stuff, which I rarely do for DVDs. I was looking for a nice community to chat about these things with and the Tavern seems nice.
I go to Western Michigan University and am studying to get a major in Creative Writing, with of course a minor in Japanese. I lived in Okinawa Japan for two years from 2008-2010 while I was enlisted in the Marines Corps. Next academic year I will study in Tokyo at Keio University and am really excited about that.
I hope to talk about lots of interesting things with you all in the future!

Welcome!
Wow, creative writing huh? That's a toughie. I'm kinda tempted to take a course in it but also a little scared.
Anyways, best of luck of with the travel plans and enjoy your stay here! ^^

Welcome!
Creative writing sounds good. I wouldn't mind something like that, but I decided I'd rather do English Literature in general.
Which Ghibli films have you seen so far?

I own Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Kiki, and Grave of the Fireflies, but I have also seen Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, and Pom Poko.
It is hard to say which one is my favorite because they are all so great and amazing, but if I'd have to choose I think I'd go with Castle in the Sky because it has that industrial feel and a classic swash buckling adventure.
