Wow, I can't believe there are so few Americans on here. Spirited Away and Ponyo were pretty big over here. And I see totoro art all the time. Ah well. Doomed to wait for the DVD I guess.

@Beaufort:
I have a couple of Ghibli Tattoos on my arms, a Totoro and a Kodama and it never ceases to amaze me how many times someone, young or old, will comment on them. "Totoro!!!" and we then start talking about Ghibli. When that happens I always tell them about the Tavern.
If you look in our 'members. list there are thousands of people from around the world who have joined, but most never actually post a single time. The most active members are contained in the first 2 or 3 pages, generally. There are more of us in the States that have fallen away from actively participating (as in other countries), but many of them stop by now and then to see what is going on. They may not stay around long, but we know it happens because they will sometimes post before they go. When a past member that is know to most of us active members shows up, Happy Days!!! We love it!
Anyway, in your situation, possible a short advert somewhere in your local area advising people about the screening place and the possibility of seeing a Ghibli on the big screen might bring some people out into the open that were heretofore not visible.
Good Luck...

I live in Arkansas. Either way, as husky said, a local advert could spark some interest. It's what I plan on doing with the screening I'm trying to organize, at least. I'm still waiting on a response from the my selected theater, though.

Not that it will probably help much, but I just wanted to inform the people here that I am currently hosting of screening of When Marnie Was There in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It's on 8/12 at 7:00 PM. Tickets can be reserved here:

Of course, it will only happen if I get enough reservations. I've already put some posters up in the theater, and will pursue other avenues of local advertising in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed that it works out.

Thank you so much. I'm currently tweeting like a madman about it, and looking into any Jonesboro website that will allow me to list an ad.
