It was exactly the kind of enthralling, beautifully animated masterpiece I was expecting.

I'm from the UK so it meant I finally got a chance to see a Studio Ghibli film at the cinema, as it's just been released here. One thing that the experience highlighted was how good the sound was. Not just the score, but the general effects and mixing was fantastic. The effect used on Anna's voice during voiceovers was especially great in my opinion.

In regards to the film in general... I think this may make my Top 5 Ghiblis of all time! The animation was absolutely gorgeous and the characters/narrative was compelling. The subtle visual storytelling throughout the film was something which I particularly loved, and the 'reveal' towards the end is such an emotionally involving scene.

Can't wait to give it a second watch - it's a shame we had to wait longer to see it here in the UK!

It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so loving what - Stephen Fry.
