Yeah so, the Shiawase na Jikan is currently stuck with a certain name. There's this line with the name "Sokuseki Mitsugu-kun" in it. I could, of course, just type in the name and leave it w/o an explanation, or just replace it with the word comedian, but while that would make the work easier, it's not gonna satisfy me.

So yeah, if anyone knows who this guy is, can you give me some usable info? Until then, Part 9 of the manga won't be able to be released.

Just my 2 cents.

Rather than treating the word as the name of a real person, I feel that it is supposed to be taken literally as a tease of Takayuki's behaviour. Sokuseki in kanji is 即席, meaning instant, unplanned or impromptu. While mitsugu is 貢, meaning tribute or contribution. On the day before, the boy offered a whole bunch of flowers to the girl, even though the girl only asked for one. He ended up angering his mum who cared for the flowers very much. His friends have been told the whole story, and apparently that is why one of them jokingly call him 即席貢君 (ソクセキミツグ君).

I am not 100% sure nevertheless, so don't quote me on this. It would be great if any native Japanese speaker can shed some light for us.

Anyway, please keep up with your good work. I look forward to your release of part 8 and 9.

P.S. For anyone interested in having a look at the original text, I have uploaded a few pages of the manga onto the web. The word in question is handwritten in the first panel of page 85.

Could be true, then I could just translate it as Impulse boy. but it just doesn't sound or look right. Anyway, I'm currently waiting for dballred's response to it. He works in Japan half the time, so maybe he can help out with it.

Anyway, it won't affect the next release, which is done anyway, but I can't release anything further than that without this thing solved.

Last resort would be to actually ask some scanlation group. Meh.

EDIT: Btw, there's also this one word I realized I don't understand. It's written as hiifuumii (yes, double vowels for all), of which every single source I could think of was unable to come up with a decent answer. The closest I got was seeing the word in a song called Oshikamono by Go!Go!7188, but even then I was unable to find a translation of the lyrics.

Btw, just so you guys know, I have now discovered where I left off with the translation before I put it on hold Which pretty much explains all this headache, heh.

I am pretty sure that "ひい ふう みい" is simply "one two three," just like "いち に さん." The difference between the two is that the former are from the primordial Japanese language (大和言葉), while the latter are Chuugoku Ryuu (中国流) words. This "1-2-3" interpretation fits the context of the words in the monologue of page 89 too.

Next time when you come across a question, it would be really helpful to tell us exactly where the source of the problem is: in which page and which panel. It is quite a headache to search through tens of pages again and again to locate it . It is also a good idea to post the relevant pages as only very few of us here have the raws in hand.

As usual, the page in question is uploaded onto the web for anyone interested to refer to.

"Sokuseki Mitsugu-kun"
I think that Mr.Jiji said the correct answer.

"mitsugu-kun" is meaning that the man who sends the woman the gifts or treats to dinner to obtain the woman's love. in this case, the woman only receives the gifts from the man, and she doesn't give any return.
the man who keeps spending money for the woman, we call him "mitsugu-kun" with ridicule. a negative meaning is included in "mitsugu-kun".

Mr.Mamoru said that Mr.Takayuki seemed to have become "Mitsugu-kun" instantly.

"hiifuumii"
"Hii-fuu-mii" is the same meaning as "ichi-ni-san".

He counted the number of month that had passed since the day about which he talked with her.
1, 2, 3... three months passed.

Cheer! Roarkiller!

Great to see Nanashi comes to rescue 8]. It is nothing better than a clarification from a susuwatari whose mother-tongue is Japanese. (Do susuwatari have mothers or tongues? )

And thanks a lot for the detailed explanation of "mitsugu-kun." I just read the whole name literally, and had no idea that "mitsugu-kun" itself is a commonly used derogatory expression. A new word for teasing the others.

By the way is there a specific term for referring to the kind of lady in the "mitsugu-kun" scenario ?

I think that there is no term for lady.
It is "Mitsugu-chan" if I dares to say.

Asshii-kun
the man who drive his car for a lady.
It is necessary that the car is a luxury car ex.BMW, Porsche, Mercedes...
In the meaning of the Ashi("足" ),
Ahi has the meaning of transportation besides leg.

Messhii-kun
the man who treats a lady to dinner.
Meshi("飯" ) mean meal.

Tsunagu-kun
the man who set an Audio, Computers etc.
Tsunagu("繋" ) mean connect.

all kind of people cannot become a lover.
of course she has lovers besides them.

Well, having the translations is certainly very helpful.

Thing is, now that I know what they mean, I am completely lost as to how to translate both.

Meh. Tonikaku ganbaru shika dekinai ya ne. :s Wait for the release to see how it turns out, then you can bash me all you want

Back for more help yo. Meh, just goes to show how sucky my japanese still is.

p99: Aa, demo sorya chotto Hana-chan kangaechau na... Nanpa shite mo hen da yo ne.
-Kinda lost in the 1st sentence. Somehow I get it, somehow I don't.

p100: Anta ni shicha joudeki
-I know joudeki, but not in this context. Meh.

p102: Mata "Ii hito nan da kedo" to ka iwarete kaette kuru nja nai wa yo.
-Mine sez, "Don't go around bringing around people again", but it doesn't really sound right. The words in quote is confusing me.

p107: Ibasho ka...
-This part isn't important, just wanted to know if there's a better way to translate this.

p112: Saikin kakkou no sakana da yo na, ore tte.
-The sakana part, obviously. Only sakana I know means fish, so... yeah.

---

Should cover for the next three weeks' release. I haven't really translated everything fully yet, so more problems will certainly arise. But for now, this is all the headache I can handle.

------------------------------------------------------------
p99: Aa, demo sorya chotto Hana-chan kangaechau na... Nanpa ni shite mo hen da yo ne.
------------------------------------------------------------
If so, I(Hana-chan) reconsider that (you go to see him).
(It's not advisable for you to see him.)
Did he pick up you? His way was odd.

ittoide ittoide! -> demo sorenara Hana-chan wa sukoshi kangaeteshimau.
Nanpa : Machi de Onnanoko ni koe wo kakete asobi ni sasou koto.

------------------------------------------------------------
p100: Anta ni shicha joudeki
------------------------------------------------------------
You had very well done as you.
(It was better choice for you to have accepted his offer.)

Anatani shite wa joudekina(yoi) koudou datta.

------------------------------------------------------------
p102: Mata "Ii hito nan da kedo" to ka iwarete kaette kuru nja nai wa yo.
------------------------------------------------------------
We hope you don't home with her remarks "You are a good person, but... (you cannot become my lover)".

Way of gentle refusal when you are declared his love by your friend whom you do not want to become your lover.
"Anata wa ii hito nan da kedo ..." : You are nice guy, but ...
"Otomodachi de imashou." : Let's keep friendship (not love).

------------------------------------------------------------
p107: Ibasho ka...
------------------------------------------------------------
my own place...

I think that the word means not only the meaning of real place but also his situation in the relation to people.
Occasionally, the hero (or heroine) of Syoujo-Manga watching his inside and thinks, "Who am I?" or "Am I needed by people?"

------------------------------------------------------------
p112: Saikin kakkou no sakana da yo na, ore tte.
------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, I am a butt of your ridicule.

This Sakana wrote in Kanji 肴 (not 魚).
It means the thing to afford the enjoyment when we drink.
In this case, they(including Takayuki) are pleasantly laughing at Takayuki.

btw, what meaning is "Meh"?

Mata o sewa ni natta ne, Nanashi.

Forgot you're a native. "Meh" is a slang, but you usually only find it on the internet. It's like "cheh" in japanese context, but referring more to the "couldn't care less" status.

つまり、「meh」ということは「つまんない」とか、「 うでもいい」と感じなんだ。わかった?

Btw, about that rejection line, who's the one being rejected? I'm guessing Tsuge-san based on the story.

"Ii hito nan da kedo"
yes, Takayuki is rejected.
he has such experiences before, and his family knows it.
