To be honest, I would have much rather said I have translated Chie the Brat (Jarinko Chie/Kie la petite peste) for you all -but my French just isn't good enough for me to transcribe it. If someone can provide me with a french script I could do it.

Well anyway, I hope this is a step against the damn limited-language French releases. What the hell is wrong with them? If you look at American dvds, no matter how crap the movie is, they still have subtitles for about 10 different languages and often a french dub too. Grrrr....I think I might even torrent the whole thing :S

Also if anyone is interested in translating (especially from Japanese) here is a list of projects that I might be to provide the RAWs for - Watchdog Bow Wow (Jap), Gulliver's Space Travels (Jap), Ali Baba's Revenge (Jap), the non-Miyazaki Puss in Boots movies (Jap) and of course, Chie the Brat (French).

How is your Japanese? Do you need a DVD copy of Jarinko Chie to work from? If that's the case, I'd be more than happy to send you one. I'm somewhat mystified that it's the only Japanese DVD on the Ghibli roster to not include subtitles. Apparantly, they felt the humor would be too local (Osaka) to connect with the West.

Anyway, if you need help with Chie, just holler.

Hehe, thanks for the offer Daniel...unfortunately I do not know japanese. Hmm, neither the Japanese or French releases of Jarinko Chie have featured subtitles, which really is a shame. I mean my french is quite poor, but it didn't take me long to create subtitles for 'Le Roi et l'Oiseau' (Outotori) or 'Horus: Prince of the Sun'.

Every DVD distributer should include at least English subtitles as it can only improve sales.

P.S. - Hyuma, the whole of Outotori is posted on YouTube somewhere.
