Manga comics, What do you read? | |
My favourite mangas (hard to pick, I actually have over 270 manga comics):
Everything by Naoki Urasawa ie: Monster and 20th Century Boys (I have it in German, american release date 2008!!) Both are truly amazing, and the story is incredible..
Kenshin - Nobuhiro watsuki
Vagabond - Takehiko Inoue (truly amazing drawing style!!)
Yakitate Japan!! - Takahashi Hashiguchi (you will laugh until you die)
Blade of the Immortal - Hiroaki Samura (pretty gory, but once again, the drawings are incredible)
Gash! - Makoto raiku (once again, hilarious!!)
Seiken Densetsu - Shiro Amano
Blame . Tsutomu Nihei (extremely complicated and dark, but amazing)
Finally, my favourite of all.
No. 5 by Taiyo Matsumoto (although Viz comics has not and will not ever complete it). The drawing style is an incredible fusion of several comic styles, and the combination of that and the story is just plain AMAZING
So, what about you guys??

Because I don't really have the option of getting it easily, the only manga I've actuallly read is Dragon Ball Volume 1. It's a good laugh

Like anime, you can download manga online. It's how I got the idea of scanlating the Whisper original manga and TCR's sequel anyhow.
I read too many titles to list here. Currently readin XXXholic, Tsubasa Chronicles, Kare Kano, Bleach, Black God and Suzuka, amongst others. Currently waiting for November when Gantz resumes print.
@RealityBites: There's also Last Order that's ongoing, isn't it? BAA has two manga series, after all.
For manga, I highly recommend monster for those interested in Hitchcock-style. It's a really great suspense thriller.

Yeah I have last order but they took it too far
less story & bigger swords isn't my thing unfortunately...

On an island with only enough shops to get food and an occasional magazine.

Ha, Roarkiller youll have to wait for 20th century boys, unless you find a scanlation, its weigh better than monster (and thats very hard to do)..
There was a Whisper of the heart manag?? Can it be bought in english??

Same with me, but I buy comics when I go to switzerland or Usa in summer..
So, where exactly is that island??

WOHOO!!
I love blade of the immortal but havent finished it, like you..
Im at 11 at the moment..
I strongly recommend you to buy 20th Century boys.. ITs really good, and you can buy it in German!! (like me)
WARNING: 20th Century Boys 9 is extremely rare by now and is worth at least 50 euros.. It was worth it for me!!!
However if thats too much money for mangas for you, get monster by Naoki urasawa (same artist) which is already completed and nearly as good!!

@project: Saikano is best watched, not read. Especially the last episode's last few minutes.
@JRR: Got internet, got everything. Just a question of how much time you can spend to search. Assuming it's somewhere online.
And the only Whisper manga available in English is in the form of scanlations. One's by me (first to do and finish, but a horrible job, I personally admit), and another version's by Shoujomagic (recently finished, and deinitely better than mine).
The Sequel's also out, and at the moment the only copy available is the one done by me and a few others here (Kudos to Nanashi, Jiji and dballred). It's a pretty decent job. You can find it either on my site or Wingsee's.

lol roarkiller
I'm sure the anime is better then the manga but the reason why I'm reading saikano is because there is no DVD version in germany. And if there was one i couldn't bought it because its to expensive here and I'm still a student xD
there are alot anime i wish to watch but they are either expensive or only in english or japanese.

Had some really good Lupin manga when I was in Japan. Also been collecting Love Hina, which is really quite hilarious. (Managed to collect up to #7, and so far read up to #5.)
Also I managed to get my hands on "The Cat Returns" manga, and a pictorial novel by Miyazaki but I forget the name.
I recommend Love Hina, though. It always makes me go like this: and then like this:
