I no that it has nothing to do with Ghibli or manga/anime in any case but though i would show you anyway XD..

these are my latest graphic design (like it says in the title.... Duh)

have you seen the making of the 'cat returns'? they have a section where they show you how they made the run through the alleys scene (near the beggining when harus chasing muta) the style is similar. what programe do you use? if you use something like 'phtoshop' you could try working from photos like they did at ghibli for those scenes (and work some people - or creatures -in there too), see what kinda results you get.
