It is a collaboration between Studio Ghibli and Polygon Pictures, the studio they previously worked with in 2004 to produce Ghost in the Shell 2 - Innocence. The 3D CG production is being directed by Goro Miyazaki and is an adaptation of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren's 1981 fantasy book for children, Ronia the Robber's Daughter.

Posted by Saddletank on 08.20.2014, 08:04 AM: Sky Crawlers is a very good example of well done anime CGI. The characters are 2D though but the switch from CGI 3D air combat scenes to the personal interactions between the pilots off duty was probably a deliberate decision.
