When it first came out everyone was raving about it, but looking back it's kind of not very good. At all. I think people should be able to look back objectively on films like Akira and admit the truth.

Posted by O-Jay88 on 05.12.2009, 05:35 PM: I started getting into anime just last year, through Studio Ghibli, and have since then seen a number of the animes already mentioned. I think Akira is a tad overrated, I found it a little too disturbing and strange, but that's me.

It's certainly welcome, as I have nothing against love stories, it's just they don't interest me that much, if that's what a story is purely based on. I see Only Yesterday as all about the personal journey through Taeko's life, particularly her childhood. There is so much more I could say (and I will one day) but I'll stop rambling now... |
