I'm more sure than after the first series that Haruhi can read Kyon's thoughts. She responds directly to him after he's thought something.

I agree, there were several instances in ep 12 of this happening. Like the case where she sniffed out that Kyon was thinking what it would be like with Haruhi in the bunny costume and maid outfit.

I think if she does know it adds a lot to the story. But it confuses me too, since Kyon often talks openly with Koizumi about Haruhi being God, etc... therefore she can't be picking up those thoughts. Perhaps she can only read him when he is close?

Does sound about right, it would make sense.

I want to say that another possibility is that Haruhi is just a very good at observing the situations and makes appropriate judgment calls. Its like she is playing poker with all of them and has all their tip offs figured out. The only problem with this theory is that I think im giving Haruhi way to much credit in the intelligence department.

i have already started the ep that shows them filming the movie. and on the whole haruhi reading kyon's mind i agree with what miyrru said about that haruhi is just very good at observing the situation, i think that haruhi is also good at reading peoples faces and plus look at kyon's face i mean wouldn't you be able to read him like a book?

Impressed with the artwork in this new series, some of the best I've seen in any anime TV series. Eps 13 and 14 were especially good.

I dunno, I'm just impressed with Hirano Aya. I think the 2nd season is really more focused on Haruhi's quirks than comedy in general. I mean, who could've guessed that Haruhi can get so childish and stubborn? And who could've guessed that Kyon could be so violent?

Violent Kyon btw, IMO, was the best directed scene in the series so far. It was like his anger was emanating from the screen.

Yes, that was very good. And Haruhi's reaction equally strong. This series is definitely darker than the first. I find Koizumi to be creepier as well, especially when the sub-plot of him, Nagato and Mikuru all having different theories and agendas about Haruhi was brought up, and Koizumi pushing for Kyon not to argue with Haruhi. Koizumi is no longer a smiling, slightly effeminate device to impart plot but really quite sinister and a much stronger character.

EDIT: Is that the end of the new material then? We've had 14 new episodes (2 more than were listed on the note I copied from another site on p.1 of this thread!)

I browsed through a few sources a while ago, and most agree that the entire season has a total of 28 eps, which means only 14 for season two.

Which would mean that, yes, there's no more.

But one or two sources seem to suggest the "The Vanishment of SH" is also part of the season, in which case there's more than this.

Personally, I'm not holding my breath. But it could also be that they were taking the entire "Endless Eight" as one episode, which would free up to another seven slots.

Seriously though, if this is all they had to offer, then it has truly become anti-climatic. "Vanishment" was one of the more powerful stories in the novel, it would be a shame to not do it.

Maybe KyoAni is just wetting whistles with these minor plot lines just to keep you interested? I know that any real Haruhi fans watched all of Endless Eight (and perhaps complained the whole time) as well as Sighs. This at least lets us know that KyoAni would continue more storylines, but possibly this was just to test the waters to make sure that there is still enough interest to make the endeavor valid.

I thought the whole of Endless Eight (barring the first episode) was fantastic. Very clever and very brave to do that. You couldn't do that with a show that wasn't immensely popular.

The second series hasn't been as good as the first (few are, eh?) but in some instances I think it was stronger, particularly in characterization and artwork.

YEEESSSSSSS!!!!

EDIT: No! It's a movie! Which means we won't get to see it until months later.

Bah, phooey.

EDIT2: Not entirely related, I found the music video of the movie's theme song:

http://video.yahoo.com/watch/6868105/17866651

Which btw, begins airing in cinemas in Japan today.
