Hence Arren's comment.

Your comment about Doraemon (whatever that is, I have never heard of it) works more appropriately if you just remove that word "even".

yeah you are right

Going this Friday to NA premier!

Hi friends,
I just wanted to add to this thread about Ghibli's latest installment, "When Marnie Was There" in that I will be attending the North American premier of the movie in New York City this Friday. As you can imagine, I'm really looking forward to it. After their release in Japan, Ghibli movies typically are launched in New York first, then as time goes on more releases are scheduled all over.

While looking for the Marnie DVD, (I found one I'm watching) I also found the book "When Marnie was There" by Joan G. Robinson.

Just saw saw the movie last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a different kind of Ghibli film than most are familiar with. It deals more in reality than fantasy; like "Only Yesterday", "Ocean Waves", or "Wind Rises". I'd still recommend it to everyone; I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Thank you, TF... I have been looking everywhere for a copy...

I heard somewhere that it's being released on DVD in Japan in March; but I haven't seen any update on Amazon for a Western release. I'm definitely buying it.

Ending song of "When Marnie was There". Putting into perspective (the main character is an introvert girl who has trouble making friends), it certainly is touching.

Ah, so you saw it! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised by this one - a lot better than Arrietty by the same director, I thought.

The lyrics remind me of times in my childhood many decades ago when I often felt that way then. I look back and realize that most of my friends were from the time I was living in the same neighborhood for about 3-4 years. I have no memories of friends before or after that time except a guy friend (Javier, I think) in 10th grade and a girl friend (Susan Sprat), also in 10th grade but in a different school. I remember that she always seemed to wear dressier clothes to school that the other girls. They might be in skirt and blouse while she wore a sheath dress, that sort of thing. We sat and just talked many hours about different things and made out a little. We seemed to be so compatible with one another.
Then I moved across country and I never heard from her again.

Makes me think, if I hadn't been moved around so much as a child, how different my life might have been.
