Studio Ghibli for Wedding Reception Music

Hello,

I fell in love with Studio Ghibli when I watched their 25th anniversary concert - it blew my socks off!

I decided to use some of their songs in my upcoming June wedding. The wedding will take place in a Japanese Garden and I think it'd appropriate to use some Studio Ghibli songs (during appetizer only).

Now the problem is my fiancee found that most of the music is very depressing and not uplifting enough. Do you have suggestion of which songs to use?

So far on my list:

1. Kiki Delivery Service - Ume no Mieru Machi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD1yAEWpzeQ)
2. Totoro - Kaze ni Toorimichi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsPgvW4Qmj8)
3. Ponyo theme song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqS1KTu6okY) - although for a garden wedding this sounds too nautical
4. Porco Rosso - Bygone Days (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1hzHolsgCM)
5. ? (please give me your opinions)

I love Howl's Moving Castle's Merry-go-round of Life but my fiancee found it too dark for a wedding music...

Thanks much in advanced!

-icha

I can't really match most of ghibli's music as uplifting, to be honest. Kiki is probably the closest considering her spirited nature.

That said, Ashitaka to San and Chihiro's Waltz make good dance music.

Thanks Roarkiller I agree so far perusing Ghibli's music only Kiki Delivery Service is closed to being uplifting. This is something to reconsider. Any input is appreciated

If you are not fixed solely on Ghibli music, there is lots of lovely general anime music around, much of it is very fun and upbeat.
