what do you rate Tale of Princess Kaguya

Ive only seen a few Ghibli films such as my neighbor totoro and Spirited Away all of them excellent films not in just animation but as films in general and today I watched the AMAZING FILM Tale of Princess Kaguya and I was astounded I just literally im lost for words the art is so beautiful the voice acting was amazing as well James Caan and Chloë Grace Moretz did such a good job and I love the two of them even more now and the story was so amazing I loved the Japanese folk lore I was in tears crying when the movie was over

ihavent done this in a very long time but im giving Tale of Princess Kaguya a 10/10 that doesnt mean its the best movie ever or even the best Ghibli film what it does mean is that this is an incredible movie that I believe everyone should give at least one chance.

10/10. And I just watched Big Hero 6. Kaguya was certainly robbed for the Oscar.

I watched "The Tale of Princess Kaguya" today in Japanese with subs...

I totally enjoyed it. The story, the art, all of it... and I cried again during the movie, but I won't tell you where.

I highly recommend it to everyone who likes Ghibli. Takahata did it again.

Still haven't seen it, haha. There's a fair bit of criticism over the movie so I won't really comment until I've actually seen it myself.

I don't remember seeing any criticism over Kaguya. Rotten Tomatoes certainly gave it high marks.

The common criticism, as I've read, is that it should have been a little shorter. In this regard, it brings to mind Pompoko...
I rather agree, but also I agree with the majority that consider it a very good movie, one of the best from Takahata. If this is his last work, as it would seem, it's a nice way to retire (same as The Wind Rises for Miyazaki).

BTW, in the event that there is someone from Argentina lurking here: the movie will be shown in the BAFICI festival.

I'm not among those that would've argued Kaguya should've been shorter. It really needed the length of time to build the character's relationships up; primarily the girl and her parents. That's really what made the ending scene so moving. I doubt you'd have felt so emotionally drawn if they had only lightly brushed up on her relationships with her friends, family, and the world she's brought up in.

I just went and saw it again today, this time with subtitles. It really is so good! It's a great story, well told, and the art is wonderful. Possibly a little too much time is spent on her earlier years, but then again, I'm not sure what should've been removed there. On the whole I think it's as long as it needs to be.

That is my favorite way of watching anime, in Japanese with subs...

You have no choice but to watch with subtitles on some of the movies, like Only Yesterday. I don't mind watching the dubbed versions if and when they're done right. I can't even picture watching Porco Rosso without Michael Keaton's voice or Nausicaa without Sir Patrick Stewart's voice as Lord Yupa.

I don't think I've watched any of them with dubs before... I'm sure I've seen some dubbed clips, but never the whole way through.

The dubs are actually quite good! Especially love Laputa's. And Howl's is pretty good too.

I just seem to feel the emotion, etc, better when I listen in the original Japanese and then read the subs. I know a few words of Japanese and it pleases me when I see a word that I've heard...

I thought Kaguya was simply amazing...10/10. My favorite film of all time, and I'm not exaggerating.
