I've never seen Ghost in the Shell and I probably won't see this new one, but I hope that it's extremely successful. Anime becoming more mainstream would help expand my social circle.

I kinda expect this one to be good, despite everyone's hate about the choice of a non-Asian actress to represent Motoko Kusanagi. I see their point, they're not off the mark, but I think Scarlett Johansson may be fair to the character, in a sense. Also, there're people from Production I.G. making the film and Takeshi Kitano is part of the cast, which makes it a bit more... promising.
I don't know the men writing and directing the film, 'tho, dunno if they'll do a good job.
