  Miyazaki's New "Final Film"

Seeing as how there's no thread dedicated to this, I figured I'd start one so we could all share news on what we know.
Here's what I know so far.

We all know that The Wind Rises was to be Miyazaki's last film before retirement (like many before it haha).
But he's recently announced he's coming back out of retirement for"one last film".

I had originally thought that this new film would be his never realized film "Boro The Caterpillar", since he was making a CG short for the Ghibli Museum and wasn't satisfied with it, so he pitched the idea for a full fledged film.

But according to an article from Anime News Network, it seems like it might be something different as Suzuki wouldn't reveal the title of the film.

There's also a new documentary soon to be released (I've watched it) which tells of how the CG short of Boro The Caterpillar came to be.

Please feel free to add anything you might know, or anything you hear from now on. This is a grand occasion for any Ghibli fan!
I love Miyazaki, and to know there is at least one more film of his to look forward to is beyond exciting.

This is good news and I hope he will be able to follow through on it...

Of course there was a thread. There were 2 of them, or more.

It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so loving what - Stephen Fry.

Well they're more of a "here's this" kind of thing.
I just wanted make a thread where it could all be organized into one where we just keep adding on to the news.

I'm definitely looking forward to this. While it's fantastic news that he's out of retirement, I can't really say I'm surprised. Miyazaki has done the same thing four or five times already. He can't stop doing what he loves.

I too thought that it would be called "Boro the Caterpillar". IMDB even has a page set aside for it (with release date 2019), but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Whatever he and Suzuki have planned, I'm just glad that the Age of Miyazaki is still going.

Amen to that...

Yeah, I was never really convinced he was retiring for good. I get the impression that as long as he can keep working, he won't stay away.
