Goshu the Cellist: Tales from Earthsea

Watched three movies today... Two considered Ghibli's and one not...

"Goshu the Cellist" and "Tales from Earthsea"...

Some do not have a good opinion of these two movies, but I enjoyed them both. The artwork on Earthsea wasn't as good as other Ghibli's, but I enjoyed it just the same... Especially the relationship between Arren and Therru... and the surprise near the end.

The third movie that I saw was "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace"

you liking everything from ghibli kind of pisses me off a little. how is it even possible? earthsea is 3rd worst ghibli movie imho (actually... maybe even 2nd, I'm willing to give yamadas +1, they were boring, but not necessary as bad).

Why does what I like or dislike piss you off. It's my choice, not yours. If you disagree with me, that's fine, but I do not HAVE to agree with you...

As for liking all the Ghibli's, why not? It is one of the reasons that I am a Ghibli fan...

still not seeing through me, are you. I don't really care what you like, it was more like "why can't I like it as this guy does".

long time ago I've found out that when ever I am pissed about other people, I am really pissed about myself. I believe the same applies to other people, but most of you guys never realize it.

not to put you down, but the reason is that probably we all don't think or necessarily reason as you do... When I read words, I read the words for what they mean and don't think about or look for any subtle reasoning behind the words the author may have intended...

Wording your statement like, "I wish that I could see Ghibli's as you do and maybe I would enjoy them more."

Less agressive and expressing the meaning you intended...

reasonable objection, but then I was true to the feelings, not to the meaning. for example, if you are late for the bus, you are pissed about being late to the bus. it's only when you calm down a bit, you realize that you are pissed about wasting time on the phone or something else you could skip in order to catch the bus in time.

But one of the things about typing up posts on an online forum is that you can take a minute to consider before you submit it. Saying it's true to how you felt in that moment is just making an excuse for not holding back your rudeness.

Anyway, back on topic: I would say I like every Ghibli movie I've seen, to different extents. Earthsea is definitely one of the weaker ones, but I enjoyed the visuals a lot and thought it was interesting the way that aspects of the different books were incorporated.

Yamadas made me laugh so hard when I watched it. I found it easily the funniest Ghibli of all. I also really liked the variable and sketchy art style. Typical Takahata, similar effects are used in Kaguya. Its not a film I'd rewatch more than once or twice but it has its place because its so different.

this got me thinking, what ghibli movie I would even want to rewatch. I can't just rewatch all of them like husky does, I can't even only rewatch the best ones, because I saw them enough times already.

it is also true what someone said here, ghibli is very special and it's next to impossible to find similar work by other studios. I guess I have no choice but to wait for that ponoc movie hitting the internet.

i share a quite similar feeling. I have not seen a ghibli film for i think around two year or some less. I feel like i know them frame by frame. Still have not seen the kaguya hime or any later. the last one i saw was the wind rises.

You should watch Kaguya Hime, it is quite the breathtaking experience. Some of the animation sequences are Takahata at his finest.
