Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 01.28.2015, 11:44 PM: Also, thanks guys. <3 I'm sorry for getting so emotional about this stuff. Sometimes I'm just looking to vent and then I feel better. At the very least, I've switched my minor to something I actually enjoy (well not yet but I need to ask my professor what to do). Had I not had so much crap put on me in my first two years I would've totally been able to double major. Which would have been so much better..

Posted by husky51 on 01.29.2015, 01:33 AM: Venting is a good thing, if used properly and for the right reasons... Again, hang in there girl... |
Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 01.30.2015, 12:57 AM: Strangely, I don't think we discuss the author of Anne of Green Gables at all in my literature courses or even in women's lit. |
Posted by fenkashi on 01.30.2015, 02:27 AM: I LOVE Anne. Basically what made me fall in love with books as a kid. She was my childhood hero, I think. ^^

Posted by husky51 on 01.30.2015, 02:41 AM: At the local Mexican restaurant I frequent, they generally only serve Albondiga sopa (meatball soup) on cold to cool days and then they usually run out before the end of the day when I usually come in. sigh |

Posted by arren18 on 02.06.2015, 03:33 AM: Ahhh my horrible interview is in a few hours. :/ Not much time left but I think I can fit in a little more preparation...
|
Posted by Saddletank on 02.06.2015, 07:14 AM: Good luck with it! Interviews are like visits to the dentist - you worry for days beforehand but when you get there its never as bad as you imagined.
|
Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 02.06.2015, 10:02 AM: You got this. It should go fine. I have to practice a lot for interviews or otherwise I'll blank out. haha |
Posted by Roarkiller on 02.06.2015, 10:07 AM: I just wing it. Probably why I don't get many job offers in the first place, haha.

Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 02.08.2015, 12:00 AM: How did the interview go, arren??
|
Posted by husky51 on 02.08.2015, 12:57 AM: Anne Rice is my youngest sons' favorite author... Otherwise he has never been that much interested in reading as a pastime... |
Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 02.08.2015, 10:49 AM: I like her as a person as well. I'm surprised after coming to university how few students actually know who she is. I've always considered her rather well known. Aw well. It'd be cool if we could look at some of her books in class, but we haven't. :/ Then again, I've rarely encountered Le Guin although my textbooks always reference her. There's a lot of writers my classes never cover that I know of which makes me kind of sad. I mean, I love Virginia Woolf and all, and sometimes Sylvia Plath, but we very rarely get around to authors from the 1960s up. Most profs who teach the different courses are contract professors and they cut almost all of those professors. :/

Posted by arren18 on 02.08.2015, 12:22 PM: Thanks everyone! The interview wasn't as horrible as I feared it could be, and I got through it okay. I can't really tell how well I did though, so I'll just have to wait (until at least April...) and see!
