HL: Had a really good day at work after waking up and feeling under the weather. On top of that I get to work and find i have gotten a 2% pay rise! All in all a great day! XD
LL: still feel a bit groggy!

I sort of agree with Roar about Studio Ghibli being the best, I am not saying it isn't good, I would never be that ignorant, however there are a lot of other animation houses out there.
However I never really liked Jin Roh, I couldn't connect to it, but I think it is very independent on the individual, I could see where the film was coming from, and i don't know whether i was in the right mood to watch the film when I did and maybe that is the reason why i didn't like the film very much.
Either way I suppose what I am trying to get at is that...
1) everyone can have an opinion
2) Ghibli although good can in some areas be outdone (but i suppose that boils down to the different animation styles)

I agree with Heidi, I know I haven't been really involved with this debate, but to brush Pixar and Disney aside saying they lack complexity is silly. I understand compared to the Ghibli films they are far more universal and that can sometimes take away from the deeper themes and plot conventions, however like Heidi said films like Toy Story, can be just as complex.

I think a similar thing like this is said in more than one Ghibli, I could be wrong but I think this one is from My Neighbour Totoro. When Mai, Suske, and the dad are at Totoro's big tree and he is talking to them about forest spirits.

Also just to let those in the tavern who are from the UK know, Film 4 are having there yearly Ghibli season which there is already a thread about, however, on Sunday after The Cat Returns at 3pm there will be an exclusive clip of 'Poppy Hill'!!

It might simply be a continuity editing issue whereby the 180 degree rule was broken!! However that is a really sloppy mistake to make considering the people behind it!

I thought it was the Grand Canyon at first, until I saw the Sydney opera house on the far left!!
Looks weird like that! Makes you think whether it could come to something like that!!

HL: might be possibly getting a department transfer at work which means more money! I like more money!
HHL: after finally getting myself together and my head in the right place after that short period of time when I was undecided about my future, well I decided to stick at university and after an extremely busy couple of weeks of assignment finishing and hand ins and a busy weekend ahead of me for my final one, as of Monday I will have three weeks off!! Sooo looking forward to it! So many films to go and watch at the cinema!!
Also my cousin has asked me to be the godfather of her beautiful bouncing baby boy, and I am very excited and honoured and can't wait, I love him to pieces!!

I may not understand what is being said, but none the less I really enjoy the music. Definately something I could get into!
I have always been into indie music, although with the sort of music that comes out of England nowadays being of very poor quality and not very enjoyable to listen to because it is no more than a bunch of people who can't sing out to make a quick buck, but have to be autotuned to the high heavens just to be able to do so!
I fing I enjoy Indie stuff much more.

HL: Got myself a Blu-ray player!
LL: now I want to buy the ghibli films that are out on blu-ray so I can watch them in all their HD glory. However they are nearly £20 each and that is alot of money that I havent got as a uni student. This makes me very sad :'(!! So i am going to wait a bit until they have dropped in price, if they ever do, with the way Inflation is going in England i could be waiting a long long time!! Oh well!

I was doing some research on the plot and the recurring things tend to be a biopic of the designers life. So I don't think there would be any link in with the woman in the tuberculosis sanitarium.
When i think biopic and usually when films are said to be biopic it gives a detailed look into the life of the person it's about! Looking at there trials and tribulations and the successes they have had with everything inbetween!! So I can't see why it can't be just about the designer!
I do think and I don't know why, but it almost feels to me as if ghibli or Miyazaki himself is trying to keep it hush hush! Because there is very little about the film other than a brief outline of the plot.
However like most ghiblis it sounds very interesting and intriguing!
