Hey all,

I created a chat channel on irc.zirc.org
#onlineghibli

so stop by sometime!

If you've never used IRC before, it's not too difficult, goto mirc.com and install the program. Any version is fine.
When connecting, connect to irc.zirc.org, use default port #.
Once connected, here's some basic commands

/nick name (changes ur name)
/join #onlineghibli (join our chatroom)

the commands can get a lot more complicated but no worry about it right now

if you wanna see other chatrooms on the server type /list
there are some anime and RPG game chats on there too

also if u can register your nickname, type
/nickserv register password email

I'll be in the chatrooms most of times if anyone got question... (I might also be idle mot of time ^^;

Im there all the while today..

Met very ace and fine people like UO , RealityBites , etc..

Also had a lot of interesting Ghibli related conversations there.. quite enjoyable.

Hmm, I'll drop by time to time I guess, but don't expect to see me too often. I'm not much of a talker IRL, let alone online, so I seldom join in conversations. It's why I love msg boards anyhow.

Tutorial for IRC usage

This tutorial is just the basics for those who don't know how to go about getting into the channel.

1) First of all, you need an IRC program, obviously. For Windows users, one obvious choice would be MIRC, but there are others, of course. for Mac users, there's also a version of MIRC for macs, but another alternative I found is Ircle.

2) If there's an auto log in option, great, figure out how to use that. Otherwise, in the chatbox, type "/server irc.zirc.org" to get into the server.

3) After getting in, type "/join #onlineghibli" to get into the channel. For now, don't mind too much on why some ppl got symbols beside their names, or how to change colours or stuff.

4) For names, just type "/nick" followed by whatever you want your name to be.

Im mostly there around 4-5 evening (london time)..
´cept on mondays and tuesday!!
I think it should be more official..part of the website!!
ie: you dont need to register and download mirc if you´re registered here!!
(and it would look loads nicer!! )

Haven't been there yet. Most of the time I collapse to a slumber after coming home from work and surfing around a little. Then I wake up a while later for prayers and that's it.

I'm muslim btw, and it's the fasting month now, so prayers take up the entire night. And me manager got me working 6 days this week, so... yeah.

Ya know, once people that aren't familiar with mIRC get the hang of it, I'm sure we'll have some consistent traffic. But it seems most people have yet to grasp it. Also, it's not a bad thing to leave the program open the whole time, as opposed to coming and then leaving. Being idle is a-okay.

The IRC world I know is mainly a source for downloading. Most people I talk to use MSN or stuff like that to chat.

A few yrs ago, the channel might've been hot though.

I've never used it before so i thought about dowloading the mirc thing, but tht website is DEFINITELY very suspect and i have a saying " If a websites incredibly suspect, try to avoid dowloading from it" Couldnt a chat be created on this website? One that you dont have to dowload? Just a thought
