Hi everybody, I'm looking for some hobby advice. A friend brought me back a Nausicaa model from Japan. I was so excited, I wanted to start painting right away... but I've never painted a model before, and I don't know what type of paint to buy - acrylic, oil-based? The hobby shops in my area carry the typical paints for airplane models, etc.
Eventually I want to collect all the Nausicaa models (my favorite film). Here's a link to the particular model I have:
1/20 Nausicaa with Kai

Wow, that model looks great!
I think the type of paint you use depends on the type of material the model is made...

wow mpw3d, you are so lucky to have a model shop around the corner! £15 is a lot for a model, but with shipping costs from online sites it may end up costing the same. Anyway you could always try Very Cool Things or Hobby Link Japan. Those are a couple sites where I have found the same model I own.
Thanks Sen, I'll def post pics when I'm done with the model.... but it may be a few months! The pieces are so small I'm gonna need a magnifying glass to paint it lol
If anyone else has done any of these Ghibli models they should also post pics of their work!

15 pounds isn't really a lot. It's a tad expensive, but not THAT dear. My Gundams 1/100 scale models costs slightly more than that, and they are damn worth it.
And nausicaa models are definitely worth a LOT more, don't you agree?
