Suzuki also announced that he is working on a Takahata film:
Suzuki: Takahata-san has not made a film for a long time, because there are not many animators who can realize his idea. I intend to try it.
Q: This is first time that you've mention it? Suzuki: Yes, I did not talk about it anywhere.

Even if it's true, it's gonna have to wait until the end of production of Ponyo, isn't it? Otherwise, it's not gonna be a big scale movie.

Wow! I love Takahata's films. They're my faves. Although I agree with Roar. Seen as we havn't heard much about Ponyo yet we could be waiting a long time. Still if anyone hears anymore about the film please say  wooo go Takahata!

I'm also very currious about Takahata's new film.
But I can't find more information than Suzuki's comment.
Takahata is 72 years old now though, there are many older directors than he in real action films.
If I can see one more Takahata's film, it'll be big pleasure for me.

But yeah, if there was a director's production I look forward to more than Miyazaki, it's Takahata. In some ways he's better than Miyazaki.
Although Satoshi Kon is putting up a good fight.

Ive heard of perfect Blue and Millennium Actress, and I know that Millennium Actress would be a recommendation if you are a ghibli fan.
Ive heard of Perfect blue and Tokyo Godfathers, and paranoia agent, but never got around to them, ill put them on the good ol'anime list i want to see but never get around to it.
