Good news from Japan...

16th of September, KAZUO OGA EXHIBITION DVD + BLU RAY + PREMIUM ANNOUNCED: For those who don’t know, background art master Kazuo Oga is having a lovely dedicated exhibition on his work at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo which is being held from July 21 till September 10. Now you might be unlucky and unable to visit it, but there will be a good alternative. Starting from December 19 a Kazuo Oga Exhibition DVD + Blu Ray will be available for sale (DVD 3,990 Yen, Blu Ray 6,090 Yen).

heres a bit of interesting news i stumbled apon at Nausicaa.net

GhibliWorld is reporting that the Ghibli Museum Library label will release Lev Atamanov's 1957 animated film the Snow Queen on December 15 in select theaters. This film played a critical role early in Miyazaki's career and is receiving a new Japanese translation from Kojima Hiroshi.

Thanks you Peter, the summary to today's Ghibli radio broadcast was particularly good. Miyazaki sure is...uh...eccentric.

Also for some reason or another (copyright) the preview of the Ponyo theme was edited out of the downloadable version of the second Radio Ghibli episode. Of course, everything eventually leaks onto the internet. This is certainly no exception.

As rumours suggested, it is most comparable with My Neighbour Totoro's theme. It's not fantastic, but its better than I thought it would be.

It's basically a DVD detailing the life and works of Oga Kazuo, including interviews with the people he has worked with, as well as videos of his art work in the museum. Probably includes his painting techniques as well (just a guess, since that's what th trailer seem to include).

Put simply, it's like watching "The Art of..." books in video form, with he artist as the main character.
