Studio Ghibli news from Japan:
A full interview with Nakajima Kiyofumi, the current director of the Ghibli Museum who replaced Gedo Senki director Goro Miyazaki, has been posted online over here:
“The Ghibli Museum has started distributing and releasing foreign animation films with there newly founded label “Ghibli Museum Library”. Seventeen days away from the release date of Aleksandr Petrov’s “Haru no Mezame” and Ghibli’s official start in the “library business” we spoke with Nakajima Kiyofumi, who used to be a bank clerk at a big bank before he became director of the Ghibli Museum.”
Cheers,
Peter

I wonder if it will feature something about his next feature film? Suzuki claimed earlier that the title of the next Ghibli film will be announced this month, so it should cover it!
Well, that's something I also thought about. It would be rather nice. To be honest, I already finished 90% of my article on the announcement of Miyazaki's film since the 1st of March. As soon as the news comes out, I'll be able to spread the word a.s.a.p... Only need to add the newer things to it.

Great news straight from Japan!! (posted it yesterday on GhibliWorld.com, but here's a reminder for those who missed it)
13th of March, GHIBLI’S LATEST PROJECT “IBLARD TIME” OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED, STUDIO GHIBLI DIARY: Time for some rather interesting news on the joint project between Studio Ghibli and Ioue Naohisa (the artist who made the art for the fantasy scenes in Whisper of the Heart). Studio Ghibli and Inoue already mentioned the project in the past, however today things really became specific as its release date and title have finally been announced!

Wow, thats nice to hear. I'm a little confused though, how could you write 90% of an article based on a film you don't know yet? Surely, the bulk of the article would cover what the film is and what it will be based on, if anything?
Well, you're somewhat right, but there's a lot to write about the time before the title announcement. Anyway, I'll be doing my best to make something good of it.

TOHO ( the largest movie distributor in Japan) announced that they’ll release Miyazaki’s next film “Gake no ue no Ponyo” in summer in 2008. The title means “Ponyo on the cliff”.
It will show warm contact between a princess of goldfish Ponyo wanting to be a human and a 5 years old boy.
Miyazaki conceived of its story while he stayed at a town in Seto-sea in japan.
Suzuki (producer of Ghibli) says it’s like Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid” by Miyazaki.
They don’t use CG at all. Whole of it is hand drawn. The pictures are drawn in simple instead of detailed painting that they have aimed before. Suzuki says they want to aim the fun of animation from a fundamental standpoint.
-------------------------------------------------------
Maybe Wushu4ever will write detail of this news later.
This is just a quick report.

This is GREAT news! Miyazaki is at his best when he writes the story. I'm not even disappointed that he will take a low-tech way to animate the film. There's also the intriguing notion that what they really mean is that they will return to the old ways (pre-Pon Poko) when the cels were hand-painted and the drawings weren't sent off to some digitizing concern.

Great news, especially that Miyazaki conceived the story. While Howl's Moving Castle was a good film, I've always felt his strongest movies were those he conceived himself or had considerable creative license with. It sounds unique and I'm eager to see what Miyazaki can do with this kind of story. Summer 2008 seems so long away....

So it may be long for you, but before you know it, it will be here. Life goes by fast, y'know.(I think this is what I'm getting from writing so much)
Gold fish..This will certainly be interesting to me.
