Given that (very sadly) School of Shadows seems to be dead because a few key players vanished... who would be interested in a new RPG?

If we have a good premise and enough active members to carry it off, that would be fun.

We could start to throw ideas around. It needs to be anime based, obviously, and be structured so that it involves a medium sized group.
We could try setting something in the world of a Ghibli movie, or a TV series - though that tends to only work well if every player knows the movie/series.
It could be like 'Shadows' and pit a group of investigators/innocent people against a foe or series of events of some kind (so its another puzzle game), or we could make it more action/combatative based and have two factions - I am thinking of something like some of the 'crowd' characters from 'Princess Mononoke', or groups of air pirates from 'Porco'. With two factions the plot tends to get created by the players more as they cause their own events to happen.
Other Ghiblis that offers interesting 'faction' based play are Nausicaa, Howl and Laputa (because wars are going on) while Kiki could be an interesting setting that gives a different style of group play with normal townsfolk and their attendant relationships plus a couple of witch characters.

Yeah, personally I'd like to see some action/combat involved. That could be fun.
Dunno about setting it in a particular film/series... an original setting would be my preference. As you say, a 'premade' setting only works if everyone likes it and knows it well. With an original setting we all start off on level footing, pretty much, and have a bigger hand in creating it. D'you think a modern or more historical setting would be better?

I agree that an original setting would be best, though I'm not too fussed about action, as I'd prefer character development to be the main focus. Also, I think something with factions would be difficult unless lots of people are interested and able to make it work.

Ooh, that sounds interesting!
I like the idea of factions. But if there's combat, my one concern is what happens to someone whose character dies. I guess they could pick up a new character, but that might not be as fun.

Well we could still have factions and 'combatative' themes without actual fighting, and any action there is could be non-lethal. I wasn't thinking of a Naruto style game! (ag!)
For a historical setting some form of feudal court with politicians, diplomats, courtiers, courtesans and such comes to mind. Another theme would be some involvement with the world of kami (such as Mushishi did so well).
Personally I am more comfortable with contemporary settings since they are so easy to relate to and the school romance/drama is something we all know.

Ooh I agree! Sounds like fun. I was in a combat rp once and it took some figuring out but it wad lots of fun after.
I like contemporary settings because they're easier to be authentic in...and require less research. xD
I think it might be fun to have a fantasy component this time. Something Mushishi like would be pretty neat.

LOL, well Shadows was going to head that way... in fact quite a bit of 'other world' stuff was planned for it.
I wonder if we could press on with Shadows in some way but tweak it about so the removal of a couple of characters didn't cause such a mess?

I would like to continue it, but I just don't think it'll work. So few of the players are posting regularly, and it's been so long too.

I'm happy either way. A new one means I'll need to think of a new character... and - gasp! - a new avatar. Aoi's picture has sunk into me so deeply that I wonder if I could cope with the shock. XD But it would be fun...

This sounds fun. Count me in. I like the idea of something like set in Kiki's world, with normal and abnormal folk.

We could always keep some of the themes or ideas from Shadows just new characters/setting/so on?
I won't miss Chi too much ahahaha, I wasn't that fond of the personality/backstory I gave her after I'd got a little better at it.

I don't miss my character. Mainly because I'm playing real me, but you know.
Miss na-chan tho. Think we can reveal her player now? Haven't heard from her for a long time already, eh.

I did say it was Maho, but I helped her out a good deal in the beginning to get her right. So initially the posts were a mix of her and me, with the personality being created by Maho and the plotty stuff being added by me.
Gradually though she took her on as almost 100% hers.
The fact she's vanished from the Tavern is one reason why it's tricky to continue. I even e-mailed her a couple of times but no reply I did think of taking the Na-chan account and posting for her as I have the password somewhere but I tried writing for her and just couldn't get my head around how Maho did it. The girlyness and the innocence was impossible to do.
Have you a preference for a new RP, Roar?

Ahhhh Maho's Na-Chan was excellent I would have no idea to write such a character either.
It'll be exciting if we do start a new role play, thinking up a new style of character will be/would be fun.

Over the last few days I've been trying to think up a basic premise or main plot but so far no luck
