School Finals Celebration! Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Search for Posts by Rossdude Report Post to a Moderator        IP Address Go to the top of this page

My University's finals are coming to an end today. How do i think I did? Not too bad. Let's just say there's no way I can get lower than a B in any of classes. I've got 30 minutes left to the second final of the day starts and I'm sitting here, eating a sandwich at a nice slow pace, drinking a brew and listening to the Porco Rosso soundtrack.

Tonight after my finals I'm gonna watch a Ghibli movie to celebrate. Probably Porco Rosso since its my favorite.

Anyone else finishing up finals?

Man it a relief to be sure and I just wanted to share that!

What do you guys do to celebrate the ending of finals? Watch movies? Read a book? Have some beer? Feast on a pizza? Let's hear it!

My last one is on Friday. And then work starts on Monday. Siiigh.

Celebration will probably involve some fancy restaurant with my friends and not talking about school...instead we will talk about work.

Need a break from academia!!!

Might go party on Saturday.

Yeah!! Party!

Actually I'm not really a party person. I don't think I've even met up with friends at all since I finished exams last week. But I like the peaceful time alone.

I started work this week too. Why do I have to be such a keener? I want to quit already so that I can sleep in every morning and have nothing to do.

I haven't really officially celebrated anything yet, since my friends haven't all finished finals yet. I'm not quite sure what I'll do... but I have been really enjoying my free time with my family. I'm catching up on video games unplayed, books unread, emails unanswered, and all those other things that have been nagging at me. It's good to be able to do them!

I should probably have some kind of official thing. I might take some friends out for sushi... or maybe I'll relax and put on a DVD.

I just ended up having beers with my fiancee. Which was great! Now summer is around the corner, but alas I have to take summer classes in order to get paid by the G.I. Bill. And I have to work during the short week break in between semesters. Ah! But life is good!! Good luck to all who haves finals on the horizon.

Good to hear you can celebrate the ending of the exams and all school work
I've graduated last year, I now started with the study Journalism, but I'm not doing very well...
My teacher is very strict and sees every little mistake, besides, the level is much higher than I was used to when I studied Tourism & Leisure Management.

So, in 4 years I will graduate again, but not for now.
My exams will start in 4 weeks, that are the last ones for this year.

But...to stay on topic; when my exams were done, last year, I celebrated with my family and boyfriend I had back then, drinking champagne and watching some movies indeed. I'm not such a party person either and also quite shy. I like to enjoy myself alone with a nice dvd and some wine

This may seem like sacralige to all the good people trying to make school a nice atmasfere, but home ed education and school education differs so much you wouldent belive it, it takes out one factor, socialiseing which prevents bullieying but makes you lack social interaction.
Bit off topic but i thought clearing that up might help people get a correct view on it.
(sorry about spelling the spellchecker isent working)

I am with you on that! I am not much of a partier at all! I love my alone time where I watch a movie or read a book or play a video game. That said I also do love time with my family and my fiancee.

But I am not so much a fan of huge extended family get togethers. I was originally from a small family, but when my parents divorced and remarried I some how got tied in with other folk who's family is a legion! The get togethers are loud and filled with sports talk, which I couldn't care less about. So it is always awkward for me to bring up something I like (Ghibli, Star Wars, Conan the barbarian, video games etc). it is not unlike my bad experiences in night clubs when it comes to socializing (I loath night clubs and will never enter one again).

Alright getting back on topic...

I just submitted my last piece of finals (a short story for creative writing class) via email, so it is official: finals be done!!!! YAHHHHOOOOOO!!!

Yay! I finished today. And my friends and I were going to the movies but we were too tired. So we went to my place, made a LOT of bruschetta, ate it. Watched HP7 part 1 (because the HP7 part 2 trailer is sooo awesome!!!). Passed out for a bit. Got video games from Walmart. Went to DQ, but it was closed so we settled for Macs...totally raided their freezer. Pigged out on ice cream. Helped some tipsy tourists find a restaurant cause we were afraid they were going to get run over. And came back to my place.

Now, they're trying to decide what game to play first and I'm too tired to duke it out. xD

@Ross: Night clubs are gross. They're hot, smelly and you get groped by drunk people. So not the place for socializing. I much prefer Ghibli and video games. ^^

You know, the whole college then university thing is so very confusing to us Northerners xD Do you need to go to college first? Or is that an option?

@hopexx5: I like school and learning. It's fun. Most of my friends are in school. It's kind of a way to figure out what I'm going to do with myself.

There was this point where I wanted to be one of those people that kept going until they were 80...lol, not so much anymore. Now there are definitely days when I can't wait to be done! Another reason I can't just leave...not the best at giving up.

Once I fully retire and have more time for it, I am definitely going back to school. As it was said, i love to learn about new things and it will actually benefit no one but myself. I know, sounds kind of selfish, doesn't it, but you know what? I enjoy it when I am talking with younger people that I meet and come to know when I can impart some of these words of knowledge that I have learned, both from schooling and from life.

I was a drop-out in the 11th grade, mainly because I have never grasped the fundementals of English sentence structuring. Oh I can use it and speak it and write it quite well, but to describe WHY it was supposed to be that way, for me was a total blank. I could identify nouns and verbs, etc, but to explain WHY they were where they were in a sentence.... blank!

Because of my reading I was always able to get a low passing grade in English until we moved to Virginia where, for me, the English seemed to concentrate more on the grammar rather than the literature aspect of English. After a year and an half of 11th grade, my parents asked me if I wanted to quit now and try again later, so I did. I joined the Navy, got my GED (with a 92 percentile) while in the Navy and when I left the Navy went back to school and got my High School diploma. I later went on to 2 yrs of college and received a degree in Criminal Justice with honors and had made the Deans list twice. I passed my English requirement with an "A" , btw, probably because it was in creative writing.

My college years were done while a married man with a wife and daughter and working 50-70 hrs a week and attending night classes. It wasn't easy, but I enjoyed the learning experience.

OK, sorry about this. I got a little wordy... lol

Thing of it is, everybody is differrent. Some have great learning skills and some don't, but the wones with the low learning skills shouldn't just give up. Study at a slower pace or at a lower level if at all possible. Who knows, you might someday become the next Summa cum Laude at your school.

Math in school, for me was easy. My pleasure was when doing a test with division of fractions, I would leave those problems until last because theey were a kind of dessert for me. Then, like English grammar, we got into algebra and whoopsie..... I can figure most any number, but you tell me that a+b=c and ask me what c is and I go HUH!

If I have a legend that says a=2 and c=6 then I can figure out that b=4, but to do it entirely with letters, again a blank.

Maybe when I go back to school, I can do something about this...

fenkasi@ I did have a few friends in my school but the rest despised me and my views on life, i have some great home ed friends now.
I don't know about other countries schooling, but British schooling is very tiresome and alot of the time they teach you stuff you don't need to know, they teach you languages and sometimes you don't even leave the country, there should be choices about what you learn.
At the moment im teaching myself art in various ways, and working on simulation.

My friend wants to exchange to a university in England, and my other to one in Finland. But I'm pretty sure I'm sticking in Canada. D:

I was wondering how do you do online courses? My cousin just finished hers online and can now become a very well paid, certified teacher. D: I was thinking of doing this after I study languages if I couldn't pay the full thing.

I havent done one yet myself, im trying to teach myself in a diffrent way to the school system, this includes alot of nature.... and not so much modern teqnolagy but that appears to be working the wrong way round...
I think online corses work in a similair manor to online quizes. i tryed a teqnolagy one and got 8 out of 12 pretty good for someon learning in a unique way.
(sorry my spell checker isent working at the moment)
