hahaha, glad you clarified that, hope...

"Live" TV hasn't been around on a regular basis since the mid-fifties. That was when the TV shows were shown 'live' as they happened. Shows like the "Honeymooners", "The Red Skelton Show", "Jack Benny", etc. If the actors or stage people blew their lines, the whole TV audience saw it. If they were supposed to open a door and walk thru and the door stuck, the actors would have to ad-lib and quickly think of a way out of the problem. Once, Red Skelton was supposed to walk through a closed door made of lightweight wood and the wrong door was in place. He walked into it and literally knocked himself out. They had to stop the show that day.
Now, shows are shot like movies, recorded and played later on the air.

topic:
No, I don't even have cable or dish hooked up. Just DVDs

I don't watch live TV either! My mom turned the cable off when I was six, and we didn't get it back until she moved in with her fiance a few years ago. It's off again now, and I really don't miss it. Most of the shows on TV (with a few exceptions) are stupid and mindless and I have better things to do with my time than sit through fifteen-minute long commercial breaks. And besides, if you have internet (without bandwidth limits like me), you can still catch most shows online.

Never have had TV. We watch a lot on BBC iPlayer now but for most of my life it was only videos and DVDs we watched. Don't really feel like I'm missing much.
