HELP!!!
We are a high school Anime club wanting movie permission to show Ghibli movies. Can anyone help?
Disney no longer can give permission and all correspondence by email is returned undelivered to Ghibli.
Thank you

No idea about that. I feel like there are separate bodies for dealing with screening permissions. I would suggest looking into who does Disney (or somebody else if they're not actually the distributors where you are) or alternatively just doing it anyway because it's only a high school anime club.

try nausicaa.net, these right most of the time applies to screening 35mm films with soundtrack which i think gkids has access. disney only owns the home video rights. However i dont know how many people you are planning to show the movie but watching it Bluray or DVD in public place requires rights

however in case of ghibli i think you can email gkids, disney and ghibli to find out if there is any problems. However as it is ghibli it most probably wont sue you for watching it with a bunch of friends

its a uniquely Miyazaki film, one only he could make and its uniqueness places it beyond being easily critiqued.[About Porco Rosso] taken from a quote of Saddletank and Orphic Okapi

Wouldn't that depend on the setting? Showing the movie as a club activity inside a room full of students doesn't break any laws as far as I know because you're not screening it to the general public in a public location. Otherwise it'd be illegal to watch your DVDs at even your neighbour's house, which is ridiculous.

I think in the wall of text at the beginning of every video and DVD, it actually does prohibit even things like lending them to somebody. The point is that if you aren't profiting from it (probably even if you are as long as it's not much) nobody will ever pursue it, because then it's a waste of their own time and money.
