Listen to the female actresses in Garden of Words, Only Yesterday, Ghost in the Shell, Jin Roh, Sky Crawlers and dozens of others.

For TV series consider Mushishi, Issukan Friends (in many places), Kimi ni Todoke, Usagi Drop, Hibike Euphonium, Monogatari (absolutely stuffed full of down-played intensive spoken scenes), Beck, Ano Hana, Aku no Hana, Hanasaku Iroha... the list is endless.

Overacted voice acting is probably in a minority and seems to affect certain genres more.

I dont agree that acted(overacted is kind of deregetory) voice is not prevalent in anime. I think there is more acted voice in anime than regular voice, this happens even more in case female voices. You might say that it is to personize the character.

I dont have anything against it. These are just different types art. (live action and animation that is). I feel anime is more inclined to play than it is to live action. hence the association with acted voice
