I noticed quite a few Nabari No Ou Fans on here so I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread.

It's a really great series, I think many Miyazaki fans would love it. It's about a mischievous little devil named Miharu that discovers he is the king of this "Hidden Kingdom" because of a power that resides inside him. Various sides want to "extract" the power from him for various reason...but it is a bit more complicated than that and is hard to go into detail without spoiling.

Love the TV Tropes entry for it-

I started watching this, but it just kinda lost my interest. Much better series going on at this point in the Code Geass continuation and Soul Eater imo. Might be worth coming back too, but I feel that for the majority of the fans here, it relates to the bishie-ness .

I think you might just be right Miy. So many pretty, pretty boys. And perhaps a touch of shonen-ai? I like to think that I'm watching this anime for other more legitimate reasons, but I have my doubts...

Still, I don't think I'd be watching it if it was a boring storyline. It's got a good balance of drama and comedy, and it has interesting characters. That girl with the white hair and red eyes that appears when the shinrabansho sort of... activates... She must be pretty important, but we're almost halfway through the series and still know nothing about her.

Oh, also, this anime has the most incredible ED song. 'Hikari' by ELISA. It's so beautiful.

lol, before I watched this, the only character I'd seem was Fuuma-san. XD I stumbled upon episode 4 after watching an anime and it clicked to me I was gonna like it. And then Yoite shows up. XD

I like the storyline and its characters seem deep. Though I wouldn't be this addicted to it if it weren't for that last chaptre I read of it that made me cry because I wondered what exactly these characters were going through.

And yay, I like light shounen-ai series. X3 Heavy ones are Meggy's type.. And she likes this series too. O_O Though right now she's obsessed with Shirogane out of Monochrome Factor just like I was/am. XD She's putting them all on her new iPod touch. Damn.. T.T *gonna steal it*

There's just some scenes the anime fails to capture. Yoite's crying face is too pretty, and I feel something die in me whenever someone says "shinigami" to him. I feel pretty much tied to him. ^^;

I'll have to disagree that it is just about the pretty boys...in my mind this is a work of art.

Emotionally I find it cuts much deeper than style over substance series like Soul Eater or the way over rated Code Gease. (But you won't find me going on their threads saying that.)

Also, as an artist I haven't ever been as impressed in the draftmanship of human expression as I have been with this series. The way both the manga and anime portray the subtleties of human emotion is beyond anything else I have seen.

Chapter 48 scanlation and the raw of 14 are out in the usual places. (I don't know if I can link)

I already read ch 48. XD I was going to download the raws but I resisted seeing on my laptop.. Yeah, it wouldn't take forever but there's like space problems with all my frigging writing files.. I need to clean that up.

I usually wait until tonight for the good quality episodes of the series. ^^

I like the story. The characters are deeming evil in my point of view. XD Something aobut Kouichi disturbs me and then I figured out what it was and got shudders down my spine. Mister Evil Kitty Master, aka Kouichi.. The immortal! @.@ *shudders more*

This is the manga-ka's first series, eh? Because the only other works by her is a one bound volume of short stories that was released in 2005, and Nabari started in 2004. Her storytelling is quite nice.

No one is evil. XD I'm just completely obsessed with Yoite and afraid of YukimixYoite fangirls. I like the watercolour backgrounds in the anime but now I fail to notice them.

Ooh, I'll have to watch it subbed.. After it finishes, I'm gonna rewatch it all like a maniac. X3 Though that's a giant "maybe" concept..

Kouichi gone psycho: Made me think "Pretty". So he was covered in feathers before? *imagines one scene from episode 15* lolwtie.. XD

Otherwise, not attracted to him.

I wonder if in the anime version they'll kill off Yoite... Because they've already completed up to volume seven..

You know someone is gonna die...In the end it seems as if other characters need redemption more than Yoite though. (not spoiling).

One critism that I have for this series; it's inconsistant.

While I think this is good from an artistic standpoint; it seems to almost split the fandom down the middle.

Inconsistant? What does that mean? ._. *you gave her a word to ponder upon..* Eh heh, I have limited knowledge. ^^;

Ah, I finally figured out, very stupidly, what the real point of this series is about. I mean yes, it's about Miharu. It's basically his take on things and he wants to save Yoite. It does get annoying how people complain how it's gotten mostly about saving the poor boy now. But that is really what things were meant to lead to. Ugh, just rambling.. I can't figure how to straighten my words around yet. *scratches neck*

I find its quite good compared to most series I've read and watched. ^^ It's one of the firsts where I'm reading the manga and watching the anime at the same time. If I'm away from it at all it begins to look strange to me, the art style.

And whenever Micchan wears the butterfly sweatshirt, it reminds me of Ritsuka of Loveless. At least no one is Soubi. XD

I just mean it starts out all actiony and then slows down...I don't mind it myself I just think it might have been partly the cause of people dropping the series.

Anyway, all in all I really adored this series..I know some people are upset about some things that happend, but we have the whole other world of the manga to look forward too. I really think this would be a wonderful movie; Somehow I imagine Ang Lee directing (Croaching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain)and some superstar westerner playing Thobari so all the other characters can be properly asian.

Okay so you got me daydreaming, lol! I just want everyone in the universe to hear that wonderful soundtrack at least. When I listen to it I imagine a modern ballet.

Dear lord, you don't even want to know what I imagined with the movie description thing. XD (sorry, my sense of vocabulary is shrinking today and I think I need glasses)

I never dropped this series. XD Finally, something with everything I love in it. Whenever ya hear me over the phone making some weird whining noise, my friends sigh and go "It's something about Nabari again, isn't it?". XD Being a lazy 14-year-old who lives nowhere, or a tourist town in NB Canada, I don't have a job. If I was to say which character had the most similar personality to mine, it would be Raikou or Miharu, or both. o_O;; Imagine them as one per- OMG.

Miharu has a similar fashion sense it seems, lol! I Identify with Miharu a bit as well.

I remember someone calling it "Brokeback Ninja's" once and that made me think of Ang Lee, lol! Perhaps if this was thought of more as an adventure rather than an action series it would have been more popular. I think people hear the word "Ninja" and think of non-stop brainless action series like "Naruto" (Although I have to admit I don't hate Shippendun)

Both the manga and anime will be available in stores soon: I wish MTV in the USA would air it the way it has in other countries.

I've been buying the Yen Plus magazine. XD The first volume looks so plain, but it's sturdy and nice. Is there are release date for the first DVD yet before I spend my money? lol

It comes out tommorrow on amazon...I stopped buying Yen+ because some of the ecchi series made me sick; I wonder if they are even legal. I'm debating getting the first volume as well... but volumized manga is so small...sigh.

I feel like Kamantani is actually trying to say something rather than just telling a fairy ninja story. She seems to have much to say about relationships, love, and forgiveness; as well as more topical things like peace vs aggression. Do you get the same idea?

I thought of Nabari No Ou when I was reading about the recent history of Japan. The whole idea of this hidden world "Nabari" reminds me of both Japans past isolationism and current pacifism.
I could go on but I should see if anyone wants to talk more about this.

Ooh, it makes sense and sounds interesting. I found some characters with names derived from other actual ninja. Some made me laugh. XD Because some with female names are male characters... ah.

My friend's sister likes Nabari. ^^ Just found that out.

And I buy Yen for Nabari and all the Korean/OEL manhwa/manga. (except Jack Frost XD) Because Korean manhwa is hard to find, although not so hard here sometimes.. I like NaRae and I've met Svet before (the other of one of the OEL series).

At borders the computer said Nabari wasn't out yet so I bought Yen+ again.

I keep thinking of that part where Kouichi calls Thobari a murderer due to his naivity. It sort of reminds me of our own responsibility to know what is going on.

I also think about Yoite and how the readers heart seems to change for him with the protaganist: from fear to facination to compassion to love. Yoite sort of reminds me of stories I have heard about child soldiers who were rescued at the same age.
