Hello,
Just thought I'd inform you guys that I got 3 spam emails from the Ghibli Tavern today. They were all things along the lines of Slot Machines Online has sent you the following message, and then it was full of links to stuff.
I don't know if you can do anything about it, but I thought I'd inform ya.

Ive been getting quite a bunch of these recently.
"randomname has sended you a message on Ghibli Tavern"
and it will be something about viagra or car insurance.
It's annoying i get an email notification every time.
Any chance something can be done?

That's weird. I've never had those! But I think you can have a block list... like the buddy list? I'm not totally sure though.

It always someone different though. It seems like randomly generated names. its just 8 digits and letters.

If you're referring to PMs, then you'll have to ask UO.
But if you're referring to your personal email account, I don't think it has anything to do with the tavern, and everything to do with your pc and/or surfing habits. Some sites and programs have the ability to check your surfing habits, and chance upon your frequency on the tavern, and thus send you spam mails using said title.

I believe Im actually still getting these. I started to get them pretty frequently so I made a spam filter which immediately out everything with "onlineghibli" in it in the spam. I'd only get those emails anyway in "blabla from onlineghibli has sent you a message", so that's all Im missing.
Since then I dont get em anymore. Well, not in my inbox anyway.

This has nothing whatever to do with the Tavern. Spammers have used bots to trawl for email addresses and have got yours somehow FROM the Tavern. They then stick the 'from' part of their junk mail as though it were a notification from the Tavern.
They know it's a place you frequent so they know there is a higher than usual chance of you opening them.
There are only 3 things you can do:
1) Ignore them.
2) Set your email software to mark them as spam and dump them straight in the skip (this shouldn't affect real Tavern notifications as the source is actually different.
3) Change your email address (not recommended).
Eventually after they've sold your address on to a few other people and they've annoyed you, they will tail off. I had a few about a year back and just ignored them.
The moral is NEVER write out your e-mail address in full on any web forum, if you want to give it to someone, send it to them in a PM and even then disguise it with (at) and (dot) words instead of the symbols.
