I don't thnk any celebrity has, to be honest. I was and am most inspired by my 2nd step-father of long ago (my sister claims this as well) before my mother divorced him. (Long story, but mom had a lot to do with the reasons for this action) He was the only man in my life that really treated me as a son, even tho he was only 9-1/2 yrs older than me. Again, it is a long story, but even at his age he had the experience. He had to drop out of school at 14 to go to work and raise his 4 siblings.

The remaining inspirations in my life have been my children for the most part. I have tried to be the man my children would respect even during the times when I had to administer punishments. After the punishments, I would sit with them and make sure that they knew WHY they were being punished and that Daddy still loved them no matter what...

As for famous people I admire and get inspired by; Miyazaki, Tim Burton, Victoria Francés, Arantza Sestayo, Tom S. Englund, Tobias Sammett... well so many people, in quite a lot of genres. But I can't find any more now, but I'm sure there are lots of others.

I think your parents, family, friends, co-workers and teachers etc. are all a source of inspiration to yourself too. They somehow raise and form you.

I'm not particularly inspired by any famous person. It's my grandfather who has had the biggest influence on me. He's amazing. Me and him are always chilling together. We fish ALOT. If you don't like to fish, he could probably change your mind in one fishing trip.

And of course Miyazaki-san and Joe Hisaishi inspire me as well. But this is a Studio Ghibli forum, so that is to be expected.

If this were a different forum I would write a lot about how much Miyazaki inspires me. But I think it goes without saying here.

So in lieu of that... for now I'll say, Carl Sagan. His writing is better than poetry to me, and I try very hard to live up to the generosity of his ideas. Whenever I need a clear and refreshing perspective, I can pick up one of his books and start reading from any page.

yeah, Miyazaki is pretty much a given on this forum. As for others they would be.

Yoshitoshi Abe
Satoshi Kon
Mamoru Hosoda
Tim Burton
Anna Pavlova
Kazuo Oga
Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park)
Emma Watson
Markus Zusak
Joe Hisaishi
China Mielville

I think that the people who can encourage you to be a better person and to achieve your goals are the biggest inspiration.
Even if their not actually aware of their affect on your life.
Its really amazing who you can be inspired by.

Hmm. Wrong thread I think, Renske. But welcome, anyway. Glad you enjoy your anime and hope you continue to.

But, on topic...

Gerard Way inspires me, actually.
