This is so cool, my Friend introduced me to Anime and the only thing i knew was some manga/hentai movie i saw long time ago,...

I could never imagine it would me this cool!

The last movie i saw was: Howl's Moving Castle, Magnificent!

Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away were also stunning and from the beginning till the end the story grabs you. It's very intense.

The first Anime he showed me was Akira
I was really stunned by the speed and the hallucinating schenes OMG! i saw Akira twice and i still can't figure out the entire story

So anybody wants to share?

I felt the same way when I got introduced to Ghibli. It completely changed my perception of anime and animation in general. I'll never forget the day I first lay eyes on Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, and all the other Studio Ghibli masterpieces.

Now if only American animation could get itself together and actually make some decent films!

Even if american animation did there would be no competition, anime is magic in what it does i doubt there is any animation comparable expect maby that of Wallace and gromit (claymation) and Tim burtons films such as the nightmare before Christmas.

As I have said before, I like Ghibli because it reminds me somewhat of when I was in Japan many years ago. Wallace and Grommit are a kick in themselves and I must say that Nightmare Before Christmas was great, but I didn't care for Corpse Bride. I have seen many, many other anime and there are just too many for me to list my likes and dislikes all together. If I've seen one that someone has posted about, then I can comment on it.

I have about 150 anime movies in my collection and there are many more that I have seen through Netflix and friends.

I have seen a lot, but am partial to anime comedy. Fruits Basket; I, My, Me Strawberrt Eggs; To Love Ru; and a number of others that have humor, but are not necessarily comedies... I also have Paprika; Akira; GOS; Elfen Leid, etc.

@Husky: Funny, Corpse Bride always spoke stronger to me than Nightmare Before Christmas.

@Hoppexx5: I beg to differ. There are truly good American animated films too, and I think it's sort of silly to try and compare Anime to American animation. Of course, good American animated films are hard to find, mainly because most Americans are fixed with the idea that Animation is for kids. And even now it's hard to find good animated shows for kids. But, it's not impossible. And when you find the good stuff, American animation is a magic of its own.

And THAT is why the Tavern is so cool. Because we can have our differences and preferences and still be open to discussion. Obviously you are totally wrong and don't know what you are talking about, but that's ok.... lol (just funning with ya)

I really didn't try to put my finger on the problem, but even after watching it twice, I just couldn't get 'into' the Corpse Bride movie as I did with Nightmare... I have since seen Nightmare at least 6 or 7 times now over the years and still enjoy it. Maybe, if I can find it I'll watch it again and see if anything has changed since I last watched it.

I have seen many films , I mean, animation films from Japan.
Well, because China is very close to Japan, and here we have too much resources of Japanese Animation Movies.

well, firstly, my favourite movies are all from Ghibli.
And then is "5cm" by Shinkai Magoto
do anyone know this?

If you are refering to "5cm a second" then yes, many in the Tavern are familiar with this movie. Some like it and some don't, but personally, I liked it.

So that's the same meaning in original name and Chinese name.
5 centimeters a second (EN)
秒速5センチメートル(JP)
秒速五厘米(CN) OR 秒速5厘米(CN)

I think that it is supposed to be the rate of a falling cherry blossom as it wafts slowly to the ground...

There ia another, not a Ghibli, called "Like the Clouds, Like the Wind" that is supposed to be based on an old Chinese legend... Not as good as '5 cm/s IMO", but watchable.
