Dream thread

Since Saddles mentioned dreams in the highlight thread and it made me think of one of my one, I thought it might be fun to have a thread for posting about your dreams!

I think I always have dreams, but I tend to forget them too quickly, so it's rare that I remember them in detail. I usually remember ones that are particularly strange.

As an adolescent and teen I used to have oft-recurring dreams about my sister.

To feed her I would have to climb a very high ladder going straight up into the sky while carrying my sister and the bowl of food. At the top of the ladder was a small round platform that I would have to climb over the overlapping edge. It was maybe 1-1/2 feet wide, if that. I would be feeding my sister and she would fall. I would stand up and fall over the edge myself and push off against the bottom of the platform to beat her to the ground so that she would land on top of me and be safe.

I can't remember how many, many times I had this same dream. This part of my life is why I can't watch Grave of the Fireflies again. I was shaking and crying when I finished it the first time.

BTW, I was 9-1/2 yo when my sister was born and came home from the hospital after three days. This was at a time when newborns and mothers time at hospital was normally for a week. I gave my sister her first bath at home when she was 3-days old cause mom was sick and my sisters father was off drunk (which was normal). Imagine a boy that age at that time (1956) caring for a newborn like that, tending it and feeding mom. The next 8 yrs were a lot like that.

Mine rarely do, and I prefer it that way. Anyway, yeah, those probably would make the thread a little uncomfortable.....

Husky's dream sounds very intense! I don't think I've ever had a recurring dream like that. I've had times where certain aspects would come up a lot, but not the same basic dream repeatedly.

Now a days (or nights, actually lol) I may have a dream where it is like a continuation of a story that may occur on consecutive nights or not. If a dream gets too intense (fighting, very fearful stuff) I seem to be able to wake up, open my eyes, look at the familiar light patterns and relax and forget that particular dream.

Those dreams when I was a kid, I recall having the identical dream at least a dozen times. I'd wake up heading towards the ground, trying to beat sister to the ground to cushion her.

DON'T EVER GET ME STARTED IN MY DREAMS. Seriously, I will be storytelling for hours. I always remember my dreams very vividly.

I had one about a week ago which is still vivid. Apart from a small detail I can easily leave out it was smut-free (unless of course the symbolism you amateur Freudians will spot is in there!), but I'll try to write it all down later. It was one of those very real, full colour dreams that seemed to last hours and it was... just so odd. I'll get back to you on it soon.

Okay....Flare's list of weird dreams (excluding sexual ones, I'm in the same boat as saddles)

-Turning into a fairy godfather, losing my wand in a stove, and turning the back of some girl I knew invisible.
-A spider that every time we sqaushed it it got bigger. This dream gave me my fear of spiders.
-A bunch of snakes bit my hand.
-A dream that combined the anime claymore with the book maximum ride. I also kissed a girl in my class in this dream.
-Too many more to count.

Haha, I like the first one.

A weird dream I had not so long ago involved me walking along a forest path, and to the side there was a swampy clearing with extremely large crickets sitting on rocks. As I walked, I realised there were crocodiles on the path and when I got to the end and turned to go back, the path was almost entirely crocodiles. I don't know what that means.

Pretty sure the path is your life's journey at present with crocodiles representing things you fear that you need to overcome. I suppose turning round to see more behind you implies you think its better to go on and deal with what you're afraid of rather than turn back.

Dunno about the crickets and the swamp. Probably implying any other path would be equally hazardous.

Had a weird one last night... Have no idea what brought it on...

I don't remember all of it, but the gist was spotting a pedophile in a store in the childrens clothing area and my frustration about not being able to do anything about his being there and his snarky attitude about the efforts being made to kick his butt out.

One of those dreams I mentioned before where I woke up and tried to change the channel, so to speak. Took a while, tho. I was getting truly frustrated in the dream. I wanted to 'deal' with the character, but was prevented by the legal system.

Rather an unusual dream... forgot about it until I read this dream thread...

Last night.

I am in France with a small group of friends, I am not sure what for, I think it is some kind of convention or show. There is about 3 or 4 of us. We go into a small cafe and began clearing away things along one counter so we can set up our convention stand (!). The owner seems cool with this. The owner has a daughter who has long curly brunette hair and is pretty. She is sat at the end of the counter we are clearing and wiping clean and I can tell she likes me. She smiles a bit and we begin talking now and then.

Scene change.

The cafe is open for business and for some insane reason I am naked except for neko ears and a neko tail and serving at tables. By the way - in my dreams I am always a young me, usually a teenager, never an adult. The cafe owners daughter is sat on a stool at the end of one of those glass counters they stack the buns and cakes in and still watching me, smiling.

Scene change.

Still France, same cafe, but now its WW2 and I and my friends are soldiers. The town has just been liberated by the Allies and British Churchill tanks are driving through the town in two columns, going side by side across a wide square. A few other troops and vehicles wait at the roadside. I recognise half tracks and jeeps. Me and my friends (they are never distinct in the dream, they are just 'there' with me, never speaking) are the crew of one of the tanks and we are now in it and part of the armoured column. I look back at the cafe and the pretty owners daughter is also dressed as a soldier and riding some kind of bike or even a unicycle along by the road trying to catch us up. She falls off so I jump down off my tank and my friends do as well. I go back and the French girl joins us. Its clear we both have feelings of affection for each other (one of those nice emotions you get in dreams) but now the tank regiment will leave us behind. We look around for transport and suddenly there is an older lady with us who looks very much like Benten in her white suit (!). She points out some American cars parked across the square and runs over to get one. She drives across and the car is a huge 1950s or 1960s style thing with enormous wings, lots of chrome and is open-topped. It has three rows of seats. Its pink with a padded white leather interior. I have this strange thought that the colours look great with Benten's purple hair. One of my friends is now a slightly older girl (I know people's ages in my dreams because its strictly by height, older people are always taller, younger people are always smaller than me). This older girl gets in the back seat, left hand side (the car is right hand drive BTW, English style). I take the hand of the cute French girl and open the middle of the three doors on Benten's side and she gets in and slides across to sit in front of the older girl. I slide in and sit on her right and my other friend, a guy, gets in on my right.

Just as we are about to drive off the dream ends.

I almost always have a mysterious male companion in my dreams. Freud said this person was the dreamers unconscious. He never ever says anything or does anything, he's always just there at my side.

Ooh dreams. I have very vivid dreams, and sometimes I have lucid dreams, which can be fun and terrifying at the same time. There's a divide, where sometimes they're totally mundane and I don't like those ones because when I wake up, I have to sort out reality and what went in my head. I also experience the feeling of deja vu a lot because of that.

Anyway, those ones are not the most fun. What is fun, however, is the other kind. Fantastical dreams with creatures and space drama and bending of physics and reality.

There are also dreams that I set up. So if I create a narrative in my head before I sleep and give it enough thought, it will generally emerge in my dreams. That's fun.

And then my favourite kind, which are pretty rare, but the best, are post-apocalyptic ones. I'll have to share the next one whenever it happens to be.
