Well, first of all, as Ghibli fans I'm sure that anytime a critic comes by and gives good words abt a Ghibli movie is good from our point of view. I enjoyed the first critique, but I will have to watch it another time or two before I decide whether I like it in its entirety or not. I was put off a bit by the rapid-fire dialogue of the critic, but we'll see how it goes. Looking forward to more reviews...

That aside, welcome to the Tavern, Radar RIder. We hope you stay with us awhile.

No! Not Nostalgia Critic, DOUG WALKER!

"Nostalgia Critic" is a character he plays. This is Doug Walker, the actor, the man behind the character, giving his honest opinions on these movies. This isn't scripted or comedic, it's sincere.

Eh, he's always Nostalgia Critic to me.

Anyway, the review was enjoyable and fair enough. I never realised Shia Labeouf voiced Asbel. I look forward to seeing the rest!

BS. I stopped listening at "... a good movie - not great... Just a fun little flick"

All I can say is that I've seen "Totoro" at least 10 times, maybe more with the Grandkids included, but even tho I know what comes nest in the film, I enjoy it just as much as the first time I saw it... Personally, I have to disagree with a lot you had to say about this one.

I suppose its just his personal view - and like any other westerner he can easily misunderstand the cultural subtext in any foreign film.

I'm not sure we need links to every review this person has done though. I'm sure those interested will seek out more if they're inclined.

THESE are the reviews he "has done". The other reviews exist in the future, not the past or the present. I'm posting the reviews as Doug makes them, there's no "archive".

Every review I post here is brand new.

Glad he liked the film and Kiki, but seemd a little too effusive...

At any rate, I enjoy the sub-titles better...

Porco Rosso:
A lot of emphasis was put on the fact that Porco Rosso is a 'pig', albeit, not by Porco's choice. I, personally, don't think that the movie would have been as memorable if he had been a man or another animal, even.

Whisper of the Heart:
I've noticed that in most of these critiques, the dialogue is kinda snide and condescending throughout. That said, I pretty much enjoyed the post.

Note:
I will say that there seems to be a lot of emphasis on how great the movies were dubbed, etc what great actors the dubbers (?) were...

Can't say I agree with much Doug says. He often fails to get each film's nuances and misinterprets things in Japanese culture that westerners are prone to do.

As I said before, we don't need to be informed of every review. Those of us who are interested will find them. We are Ghibli fans so we don't need spoon feeding about every Ghibli-related incident, blog, video or plushy toy on e-Bay or elsewhere on the web.

It bugs me that this site seems to attract people like you who seem bent of stuffing their news down our throats.

Please stop doing it.
