Yeah, I know what you mean. I felt the same about Kaguya, but on the bright side, both of them already did better than I expected.

So now that the tournament is over, (thank you everyone for participating, by the way!), it's time to think about the next one. Here are some of my ideas:
- I want to reduce the number of films to 16, so that the same rules can apply to every group, and to hopefully make the scores a bit tighter in each group. To make this happen, 9 will qualify automatically, and the others will be chosen through some playoff polls before the main competition.
- This year there was a "host". I'd like to do the same thing again, but maybe it should be put to greater use... Any ideas for that? I'd also like members to nominate their choices for the next host, instead of me just deciding everything by myself. 
- I thought it might be fun to do another competition for general (non-Ghibli) anime, but with a different format, since we haven't all seen the same things. I'm not sure how well it would work though. Is there interest in doing this?
I'd appreciate any comments or questions about these points. Also, if there's anything you think really didn't work this year, please let me know!

I'd definitely be a interested in non-Ghibli cups, maybe focusing on different genres? I have a lot of blind spots when it comes to anime, so it'd be a great way to learn of titles I'm unfamiliar with.

Separating by genres might be a bit tough if there aren't a lot of people wanting to take part. Anyway, I don't think I'll try to do anything until there's a fair amount of clear interest.
