Education for AnimationPost Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Search for Posts by anumalik Report Post to a Moderator        IP Address Go to the top of this page

Inspired by Hiyao Miyazaki, and other animators I want to pursue animation as a future career. But being clueless about colleges and universities that provide top enviroments to hone these skills, will anyone give me an idea of some great places for education on animation? Please help.

I'm sure a guy I used to know studied animation at Southampton University.

Welcome to the forum!

i would guess the best thing to do is to really do some good research on it. of course the best place for truly good animation training is in japan but i would say most colleges or universities would have animation classes so just ask people and universities in your area, if they dont have the course they would definately be able to point you in right direction to which places would. and I, like you, have dreamt of a life of doing anime but i suck at drawing. anyways im always the one to encourage people to get into it cuz who lnows if your good everyone might see your work and that is one hell of an accomplishment. so just ask around and you will get your answer.

Thanks, and about Japan...Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Search for Posts by anumalik Report Post to a Moderator        IP Address Go to the top of this page

Thanks for your replies, it was helpful, but about the education in japan would kind of seem ridiculous since I have no idea about speaking or understanding the language, and going around the net I heard that since there is such an influx of japanese students applying to be animators that they are cheaply paid over there. Maybe that is just a rumor, but can anyone verify that? And also i want to go to a school which offers both animation (of course) and literature, music (orhrestra) and art. Any recommendations would be great because I'm am nearing my senior year at Highschool and i have to have some clue about where i am going to go.
