  Hello Ghibli Forum..!

Hello All...

I have just stumbled on this forum through some interesting circumstances and am very excited to have found it. Looks like a great new diversity of creative minds! Congratulations on what appears to be a very positive community.

I am a trained Classical Animator, but am now a storyboard artist and digital illustrator.

My greatest creative ambition is to bring these stories to life:

www.WhiteLightTrilogy.com

I would LOVE to have them made as animated films... as a huge Miyazaki fan, I would like to get to know the industry a bit better, and explore how to go about finding positive contacts for this endeavour. If anyone has any connections to the industry I would be grateful for any help.

I also love MMA, making photoshop jokes, learning about mythology, conspiracy hunting, and experiencing what I believe to be some kind of global awakening.

Here is the rest of my stuff, I hope you enjoy:

Looking forward to lots of good ideas and discussion here!!

Best wishes, Peace/Love to everyone

-Masato

Welcome! I hope you'll stick around after going to the effort of writing up such a long introduction. Feel free to post around and ask if you have any questions.

Ohh welcome fellow Canadian! Western Canada is gorgeous ^^ but I don't meet too many people who've hitch-hiked it. Sounds like a really neat experience.

And your idea for the movies is pretty neat sounding. I really hope something works out and it becomes a reality.

Anyway, enjoy your stay!

Hello MasatoToys

welcome to the amazing and artistic universe of studio ghibli. You should stay here cause as you said there are really some cool people here

BTW
you said you are storyboard artist now. Did you ever do game art? [smartphone or pc] and are you interested to one? [and are you now working in a team or freelance artist]

Thanks! No, I have not done game art... (only a small app project I started with someone, but it fizzled out)

I am 100% freelance, always looking for new creative opportunities, but unfortunately as a family man I need the gigs to be paid. Would love to work on some good ideas but gotz ta pay the bills!

Here is some of the artwork I started for the game app... was a good idea but time/money ratio wasn't feasible anymore. Maybe one day I'll get a chance to finish it

Wow

you are really good. They are angry birds or cut the rope kind of quality. I think the game you were making was rpg.

to build that kind of game with character and other things you sure need a studio with a lot of people. I think you were not the programmer , so programmer team you worked with did they had that kind of a team. Cause programming a game is one of the hardest thing to do in computer science.Cause in gaming all that matters is quality as people interfere with it directly. If they did not had that kind of muscle then it is good that you did not continued cause then it would cause a bad name for you.

If it is not offending can i ask the money/time ratio. If you do not want to disclose that in public then send me an private massage. Actually i am in pre-production stage of a game so i am budgeting my plans if i will be able to get foreign professional artists or not.

Thanks for the reply though

Hey, thanks for the reply.

You are correct on almost everything - I am not a programmer, and did not have a proper team. It was just 2 of us... I was the designer/artist and the other guy would program it. Was a fairly simple concept but once the programmer had a better idea of the work involved he wisely cut the project.

I still think its a funny concept, could probably even be improved with a proper team behind it.

As far as $ for work... its tough - I would love to help on interesting projects, but the truth is that between work and family I already don't have enough free time for my own projects. So to take time over work and family it has to compare with advertising rates, which is tough to compete with.

If you'd like to one day send over the scope of what you are working on I'd be happy to give a quote anytime.

wow, made a possible connection already here! only been 2 days, lol

best wishes

-Masato
