Can anyone recommend an mp3 player?

I'm in the market for a good 5 or 6mb mp3 player that ISN'T an iPod!! I hate iPod's!
Can anyone recommend a decent model, all the one's that I've read reviews of seem to have one major fault (apart from the iPod, but I don't care, I'm STILL not getting one!!)

Any suggestions?

How many mb's in your Zen Nano? I've read about the Zen Micro's, and they seem to have a big fault with the headphone jack breaking, and you then only getting sound through one ear!
I looked for Song mp3, but nothing came up, and I haven't heard of those...or have I just got the name wrong?!

Well if you're looking for a smaller capacity MP3 player, for less money, I personally have a Sandisk 512 Mb. MP3 player. It costs about $40 and works just fine for me.

Well, I don't think iRivers are like iPods. They have a lot of extra feature iPods don't, like audio recording, radio, and a bunch of other stuff. The only not so good thing is that it's quite expensive...heh. Anyways, check it out, you might like them!

Generally Korea or China made mp3 players have no restriction for copying or coding or piracing, instead of iPod or Sony. So they are very easy to use. And of course not expensive.
I have an i-river and a creative and they have no problem. If you don’t mind about good design and don’t use i-tune shop, don’t buy iPod. I’ll send you J-pop mp3 files. hehe

Kanta, what model Creative do you have? Is it the one I talked about above that's meant to have headphone jack problems? Can you give me an honest opinion about your iRiver? How long have you had it? How many songs does it hold? Pro's and con's? Also, I've heard that it'll only work with Windows XP, is that true?Cheers

To Spirited Sen
My mp3 players are all not new. Mp3 players are rapidly progressing and increasing in their memory and prices are getting cheaper.
The thing you want is perhaps hard-disk drive(micro-drive) type. They have bigger memory than flash-memory type.
But now SD-cards are getting cheaper and in Japan, 2GB cards are sold for 5000 yen(40$).
So you can consider about SD-card memory type. They are very cheap.
btw, is your PC Mac or Windows98?? Most of mp3 plyers are usable for Windows2000 and XP and Mac, but Windows98 and Me.
These pictures are my mp3 players, some are already trash though.
A: i-river 128MB ----- got 2 years ago, good design but small memory 20 songs, sound quality not bad
B: casio digi-cam ------ usable as mp3 player, SD-card memory type, songs number depend SD-card
C: Toshiba ------ SD-card memory type, strictly restricted in copying and unusable at all. just a trush!!
D: creative 512MB ------- got 2 years ago, directly connectable to usb-port, very convenient, very small, 100 songs. no problem with headphone jack, sound quality is average
To tell the truth, I bought it(creative) only 1980yen(15$) at a internet shop 2 years ago, because perhaps the shop mis-priced it for1980yen, but really 19800yen.
I got 10 and gave 3 to my children and sold 5 at the internet auction for 15000yen for one!!! I got 75000yen, I paid only 19800yen though!!!
My advice is not uselfull. You should go to users impression site or makers site.

I'd recommend one, but then I would recommend one from Creative only because it's a homegrown brand (yes people, Creative is from Singapore, not America as some of you may have been told).

But really, Creative Zen is fine. I dunno anything about headphone jacks breaking, but I don't really believe that. Last time that happened to me, it was the earpiece that was spoilt, not the headphone.

Don't get the Zen Micro; the touch sensitivity is too sensitive (I tried it at the roadshow). You have to use it a LOT to even get the hang of the scolling.

There's the Neeon, at exactly 5-6GB you wanted. There's the Zen V, slightly less at 4GB max.

iRiver is NOT an iPod. It's a Korean brand I believe, and was available long before iPods came into existence (at least that's what I think). Either way, yes, it's a good brand from what I heard.
