Race? I'm not racist, and none of them fits. He lives in a parallel world with their own unique races.

I'f I have to give a wild guess though, it'll be European, simply because that's where he ended up in.

I would say a fictional combination of America, Europe and the Middle East.

I just like to say they can be however we want them to be... I mean to americans they would be from america, Europeans(???) they would be Europeans, and to Japanese they might be Japanese so they can be whatever you as an individual want...

I watched it recently and I have to say I was very impressed.

Episode 7 in particular (I think it was) was fantastic and really changed the tone of the series.

Recommended.

the plot is good (although it is different than the manga), the animation is fantastic, the characters are very lovable, and the action is very cool.

I've always felt the series was a bit over-rated for me to try. Meh, I might come to it eventually but probably not soon.

I never got around to actually finishing but what I did see, I liked. The story is incredible and I enjoyed how it switched between past and present with such fluidity.

I'd recommend it though I have yet to see the ending.

FMA is totally one of my favorite anime series EVER. I watched it through with one of my friends and we both loved it, so now I'm watching it through again with my sister. It wasn't even the plot that captivated me so much (although it is very good), I just think the characters are amazing.
Although I must say, I was not a huge fan of the ending (including the movie...). It just seemed so different (plot-wise and mood-wise) than the rest of the show.

Definetly the best anime series out there.

I liked what I saw as well, and I loved Hughes, but I felt that a lot of the secondary characters were really weak. It always seemed to be show up in some random town, meet some troubled youth that is more than they seem, fix the problem and move on.

In a way, it's kind of like trigun. Amazing primary cast and good plot (FMA's plot is way better than triguns), however, stupid villians and uninspired episodic mini plots. Everything that I saw which had to do with the main story was solid though. And the second opening is awesome.

Maybe I just need to go through and watch it all at some point.

I love FMA!
I didn't like it at first but I started to like it... Lol, I've only watched... Like six episodes of the anime... And unfortunately for me manga is extremely hard to get around where I live.

I disagree about the ending, Ed had to go to London in order to protect the ones he loved and Al had to chose between going staying with his brother or living in Ametrias.

I also like it more because in teh series they started by trying to hold the bonds of love with their mother, but not only as they are challenged but they also grow the bonds they have among themselves, and this shows them, and how they grow up, and what I think is that they know that they cannot bring their mom back, but that the story of them trying to ultimately tested if they love each other. And maybe they can be content, the memnories that they hold together, are ones that they know that going into teh unknown and have each other through it all.
