Watched two movies today at the theater...

first was "How to Train your Dragon" the third movie which I liked.

The second one was "Wonderland"... Seemed to be geared to very young children. I enjoyed the way young children in the audience interacted with the movie verbably...

At the weekend, I watched Wolf Children for the third(?) time with my dad. I'm not sure I really stopped crying from start to finish, I love that film so much.

Watched Avengers Endgame. 11 years of movies leading up to it. Was pretty epic.

Also don't worry Husky, we left the baby with her grandparents.

This week I saw Shazam! at the cinema. I fell off the superhero movie hype train a long time ago, so now I just watch individual ones that sound a bit different from the norm. It was pretty fun!

Somewhat related, I rewatched Birdman to get some ideas for a class.

Watched Toy Story #4 today and I feel that it was just as good as TS#1... Some of the old characters were there and some surprise new ones, lol... I enjoyed it and, yes, I shed tears at one point...

And stay through the credits, at least until the actor credits start scrolling up... Over half of the viewers left as soon as the movie seemed to be over and missed some interesting parts...

Toy Story seems to be an exception to the rule in that its sequels have been just as good if not better than the first installment. I haven't seen trailers or anything for this latest one, but I'm sure I'll see it at some point.

I happened to see this the other day. Really odd film. Not sure whether I liked it or not.

Yeah, I don't think it's for everyone.

I should see Toy Story 4. I didn't particularly think another one was necessary, but I've always liked each new one.

Saw "Incredibles 2" for the first time... Wasn't a Ghibli, but interesting enough...

I might even go back and see "Toy Story 4" again in the next few days. To see what I may have missed beforehand, but we'll see...

So... I'm quite literally in the middle of a challenge I'm putting myself through where I watch (at least) one film a day all year (including short films because no way would I have the time otherwise). At first I accompanied this with "daily mini-reviews" on Twitter because I thought it would be good practice for conveying my thoughts concisely, but at one point I just lost the motivation to do it (instead I'll probably just use the platform for monthly updates). That said, this is obviously the perfect thread for what I'm doing, but I'll try not to bump it every single day unless I genuinely have something to add to the conversation.

Anyway, today's watch was Don Hertzfeldt's short film "World of Tomorrow" (which is included with the "It's Such a Beautiful Day" Blu-ray that I got recently; it was a great buy). Basically, it depicts a very pessimistic view of the future in which humanity exists only for the sake of existing and has forgotten what living is really about. As someone who is still searching for personal meaning in life, I can find a lot of truth in the film that's hard to swallow. Also, it's got some of the most visually interesting animation I've seen from Hertzfeldt, as well as some of his funniest comedy. I'd highly recommend watching it, of course, but it's only available as a Vimeo purchase or with the aforementioned Blu-ray. A few of Hertzfeldt's other short films are on YouTube, though.

I rewatched that recently. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, but I think it's supposed to be really hard to "get" on your first viewing, so if anyone wants to hear my interpretations, I'd be happy to share.

Yeah, it's good. I wrote a full review of it, but the TL;DR is that it still has what made the other Toy Story films good despite its issues, so it's worth a watch for sure. Definitely more so than almost everything else in theaters right now, lmao

Just finished watching " A Silent Voice", an anime about a girl in elementary school who is deaf and a boy who is a bully. I enjoyed it very much, especially all of the emotions that were expressed by the characters...

Ah, I'd like to see that one some time. I remember hearing it was good.

@Lucas K: feel free to post about your challenge as much as you like! It'll be interesting to hear from somebody who's doing something like that.

Saw a comedy called Game Night yesterday with friends. Not the kind of thing I'd ever pick myself, but it was pretty entertaining!
