Eh, it's just like... turning ships into a team thing. Like... "I'm team (character/character)!". Which inevitably turns it into some kind of competition over which 'team' is best.

Honestly, if people were as serious about serious things as they are about silly things... Be a much more progressive world.

Yeah, I feel like that's worst with long-running things. Especially book series actually... maybe because people have to wait in between books they decide to think of something to fight over in the meantime.

Another unpleasant phenomenon I've come across lately is some people, especially on Tumblr, deciding that if somebody doesn't agree with their yaoi/yuri ships, then that person is a homophobe. It goes to show how something so flippant can drive people to be very nasty.

Ohh I didn't know that about tumblr. But then, I avoid tumblr. Seems like a complicated place with too many hormones and fannish squeeing for my taste Also all the tumblr porn. It can be a bit inconvenient to be scrolling through and come across things you'd rather not have seen.

Then there are the tumblr rants? Especially around feminism and sexuality issues.

Also the time that goes into it. Infinite scrolling is the work of the devil.

Oh it's a terrifying place. I still use it pretty often because a lot of stuff comes up that's funny or cool, but there are many bad sides to it as well.
