  Princess Mononoke

Watched "Princess Mononnoke" yesterday afternoon and,as usual, generally enjoyed the story. I didn't care so much for the Boar stampede, more by what it represented than anything else. I try not to go too much into the movie's as I don't like doing spoilers and I figure to leave people who haven't seen a movie just enough to maybe whet there desire to see it.

When the movie was over, I was in time to go to the local theater...
(continued in Gen Discussions...)

edited for spelling

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

What did you like the scene I mentioned husky? (In gen. discussions, what movie did you watch...) In the scene Ashitaka says: "This is the embodiment of my wrath."
For some reason it gives me the chills every time I watch it. As Ashitaka overpowers them out of necessity, the crowd either fears him or watches in awe - or both. This attitude towards him is same for most of the movie, as he helps everyone in need, no one is sure which side he is on. I think it is a very powerful scene, because both the tragic and the heroic qualities of Ashitaka are at display there.

Yes, it was a strong point in the story, but it didn't eliminate the enmity between the two women. It was a good start, but it took much more pain and suffering by many of the protagonists before there was any kind of settling of their differences...

And, IMO, it wasn't settled as per San's last comments to Ashitaka.

Yes you're right, nothing is really solved there. But I think it characterizes Ashitaka there very clearly - he being the one who tries his best to build the coexistence between the forest and the people.
