Just wondering, as there seems to have been a real uptick in spammers coming in here lately, is there anything that could be done to help keep them out?

I would love to say yes, but honestly I don't know. :/ There is some kind of filter in place, but most new signups don't actually go through it and I don't know how to fix the settings. I've contacted UO, so hopefully I can learn some more about it. Spam really has been a big problem lately and I'd like to stop it.

I've even seen a couple of posts that show 'Guest' as the poster... I didn't think an unregistered guest could post...???

I made that possible in the Ghibli Cup section so people could participate without being forced to make an account. But for the time being at least, I've turned that off.

Hey, just want to update this thread with a request - please let me know if you get any spam PMs.

Usually spammers make a few posts and disappear, so dealing with them is a simple matter of taking their posts away, but I realise some actually spam via PM instead. That's something I can't necessarily see happening, so it would be helpful if you can keep me informed if you encounter any of these spammers!
