  Nausicaa Manga

I'm sure we've spoken about it before, but I didn't want to necro an old thread.

Those of you who've read the Nausicaa manga - how is it? Would you recommend it?

I saw it in a bookshop the other day and was tempted to pick it up.

I have the large two volume copy of Nausicaa. I love it simply for the fact that I can see Miyazaki's hand drawn artwork. I have a hobby of opening it up and drawing a few panels. Something about Miyazaki's line work has so much energy and character. The story itself is of course great too.

seems like old man does not use colors for shadows:

just 3 or 4 solid colors:

and I thought his anime frames looked flat

It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so loving what - Stephen Fry.

Yeah seems like he just uses cross hatching, line width, and some half tones. I just LOVE it!

Oh yeah, I saw that earlier too. I don't know a lot about it but it sounds interesting.

Back on the main topic, I've never read the Nausicaa manga either, but I do want to at some point. Does the film follow the story of the manga pretty closely?
