Here we go! It's the final of Ghibli Cup 2024!

For the final only, there is also a special tiebreaker rule: if the votes are tied when the poll closes, I'll make an announcement post, and the first person to post with their preference after that will break the tie.


This year we get a repeat of the finals from 2019 and 2020! Whisper of the Heart (currently ranked #3) and Spirited Away (currently ranked #1) won one of those each. Whisper has also won both of their meetings since then in the semi finals. In this year's tournament, they both made light work of the group stage and picked up some big wins in the knockout polls too - so will this turn out to be Whisper's fourth title, or Spirited Away's second?

Love these both for different reasons, but mood aligns with Spirited Away more today so that's where my vote goes.

With a 5-4 victory, Whisper claims a record-extending FOURTH Ghibli Cup title, while Spirited Away sets a less desirable new record as the only film to lose consecutive finals.

I watched "From Up on Poppy Hill" last night and cried at times thru the film, even tho, like WotH, I have seen it numerous times.
