Yeah, it doesn't really do anything to back up the notion that these opposing views are common in Japan. Really, the fact that they mention the cinema success of Kaze Tachinu suggests that most people aren't against it (though I've heard that a lot of reviewers said it was boring).

Anyway, I'm sure Miyazaki doesn't really mind that people like that aren't interested in his work.

Hmm, i was not actually pointing toward the notion about miyazaki's philosophy here.

I am more interested toward the saying generational.

I've heard nothing about USA or Europe cinema releases so we're probably looking at a DVD release. As its not a family film I wouldn't expect Disney to dub it.

I already know of illegal copies on the web but am so far resisting the temptation.

I think with it being Miyazaki's last feature film, that's increased awareness of it. In that case, I'd expect distributors to make more of an effort even if it isn't really family fare.

Anyway, it was still showing in Japanese cinemas pretty recently, so I think it's likely that it's just a bit too early for localisation announcements.

Anyway, I was just about to post about this, because as saviour has said, there is now a US trailer! All it says is "coming soon", but it's definitely happening.

EDIT: I'm not sure where the date comes from, but this news item says it'll open on 21 February.

Thanks leonbloy! I had a look at the review and it sounded promising, but I feel like six minutes would show a bit too much for my liking so I didn't watch the trailer. I'll probably go and see the film quite soon so I can post my impressions of it when I do.
